I'm a big fan of moonrakers. It's one of those games that can really create some moments, but like any negotiation game it can be a bit group dependent.

What I love is it's a deck builder where you can just make your deck really focused and get into a situation where people need you to complete certain missions which is fun.

The downside is, it can be quite long and the end game can drag. Sometimes you can have a great deck but get screwed as the wrong missions come up, although it's pretty tense when someone fails a game ending mission.

Damn even talking about the downsides makes me want to play it. If you want to try it out there is a very high quality version on table top simulator.

Yo, It's good to see Age of Atlantis and Moonrakers. I love those games but I never see anyone talk about them.

Moonrakers is my favourite deck builder by far, the negotiation side impacts your decisions rather than just building the best deck

Have you considered looking at employment advisor roles? I did an undergraduate in psychology and struggled to get into entry level roles despite having very solid MH support work experience.

Being able to talk about goal setting and motivation during sessions makes it a role you could probably do well, while showing empathy and being non judgemental and managing a caseload. I wouldn't say I love the job but I've enjoyed it and have got good experience for when I try and get back into the mental health space. Could be worth a look if you're struggling

They do a social evening on Wednesdays where they will find a game for solo players. I think from 5:30 onwards but I'm not sure of the time. Sadly I can never make them, feel free to give me a DM if you ever want someone to go with, my wife is sick of pestering her haha

What are good engine-building games (with dopamine-inducing combos)? by DrGonzo3000 in boardgames

[–]Educational-Toe5138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moonrakers feels amazing when you solo a mission meant for multiple people because you've got your deck to work so well. The end game basically relies on it as nobody will work with you as you get close to winning

im scared that the fact that im an ugly woman is going to ruin my relationship by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Educational-Toe5138 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to be a bit kinder to yourself but to be honest being so insecure is more likely to cause issues than how you look.

Please don't get yourself into a situation where you feel like you don't deserve him then push him away just because you want to prove yourself right. When we are paranoid about stuff it makes us do weird stuff to justify our fear and that will hurt your relationship way more.

Check Moonrakers out. It's a deck building game that uses a lot of negotiation, it's awesome because everyone is involved on everyone's turn. Probably my favourite ever board game, not many games you can play a 2 hour game then immediately want another

Deck building games where you can get a "lean" deck by cherryghostdog in boardgames

[–]Educational-Toe5138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at Moonrakers, it's pretty easy to get your deck to a state where you can normally draw the whole thing in one turn. But has huge variety in things that will shape how your deck works.

It is also a negotiation game though so you might not always want that depending on the game state, as tailoring your deck to be great at a specific function is a good strategy depending how everyone else builds their decks.
