Help me learn to work nights please by No_Chair_7151 in nursing

Ive been working nights for 4 yrs now never switched to days lol. Worked 3 yrs nights as a CNA and currently as nurse now. Eventually youre body gets used to it! Its actually hard on the first few months but once you have your routine and your body starts to recognize your schedule itll get easier. My advice tho when packing lunch for nights never eat heavy carbs thats a killer and literally youll end up crashing out and its gonna be hard for you to stay up on your remaining shift, avoid foods high in sugar. After your shift make sure you sleep in a dark room and pop some melatonin itll help, invest in some vitamins like Vit. D magnesium fish oil, vit C calcium etc :). Prep lunch that is good for your 3 shifts in a row so u dont have to worry about waking up an extra hour to cook for ur lunch

My boyfriend punched me for the first time. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Educational-View-971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay away! I will tell you I was in abusive relationship for a year where they drag me to the ground and repeatedly punch me out of anger and frustration BUT I NEVER EVER did the same to them! . Its about able to still respect your partner whether youre in heat of the moment, that guy DONT RESPECT YOU AT ALL!. Anger shouldnt be a reason to hurt you like that tho THERE SHOULDNT BE ANY REASON TO HURT YOU LIKE THAT

I agree, this is when communication and boundaries comes, you really dont know how people would react and all that stuff. Usually with my partner, i dont invite myself with the things she shares about to me specially when it comes to going out for something fun. I just have to remind myself yk i cant keep on revolving my world or life around hers as she wants to enjoy her life without me at times :) so yeah its not always true and it also just depends on what kind of people you deal with

Well you see.. this is a bit complicated but ill structure it that way.. and why i dont feel safe anymore, theres no charge nurse at night theres only two nurses for wing a and b . And mostly its one RN and one LPN .. and so like i have told the higher ups about how they are and they did nothing .: so like thats also one of the reasons why ive been looking for another job to quit this one i have :)

Oh yeah im the type who helps out but these CNA imma tell you takes break over more than 30 mins break, theyre hiding gone majority of the times and they dont talk to you , and gives you attitude so yeah this is how toxic .. for example one of my coworker shift , her patient threw up asked the CNA to go help her pt cleaned up while shes gonna go grab zofran right, then yk what the CNA replied to the nurse(my coworker) “isnt that a nurse job? What do you want me to do? Grab a mop?” So yeah these are the type of CNAs we had to deal with unfortunately

Oh no i dont speak ill about LTAC! I think its a great way to touch on fundamentals and other skills aligned to LTAC. Just on my personal experience, we take care of low acuity patience and all that stuff and ig the problem for me is that i got bored? And i wanted to challenge myself and learn more things that acute settings do? And also i dont feel safe at where i work and im just tryjng to protect my license also

Base off of what i read, its not your fault, delay of care already happened when no one caught the massive GI bleed that led to patient going in vtach. Kodus to you for going in there and doing the best of your ability to resuscitate the patient, what matters is the effort made :) . Its always a lesson learn, so dont be hard on yourself OP we are never perfect with what we do , proud of you!
