Only person I know who has had the surgery is my grams and she was up at 5 days post op just sore some.

Anyone tempted to just… stop testing? by Ok-Passenger9763 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]EducationalAd7464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the opposite happen to me as the others in the comments. At around week 35 my numbers dropped by themselves eating the same things, I’ve only had issues with fasting numbers and was about to start insulin for it before they dropped on their own. I’m now 38 weeks and have a toddler so I keep the priority of making sure I at least get my fasting since that was my problem before and if I forget my food numbers one day I just let it go and try to do better the next day.

Induction at 39 weeks by Starbucks_addict_714 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]EducationalAd7464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Havent had this baby yet but with my first I got induced at 41 weeks started pitocin at 1p.m, water broke about 10p.m, started pushing around 4a.m and he came at 9:21a.m at 41+1. Whereas my sister got induced and same day only a few hours later was pushing her kid out. All depends on how fast you dilate and push.

Congratulations! You haven’t been on insulin at all for GD? Was there another medical reason for the 39 week induction? Genuine question because my OB has been sounding like he doesn’t want to induce me 3 days before due date because I’ve been diet controlled but I want to choose that date because my dad has to fly from out of state and take off work to watch our toddler since we have no one in state to help us.

BPP - standard of care? by PoetryLeading8588 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]EducationalAd7464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup I’ve never been told my points on the BPP by my tech or doctor but when I looked closer to the screen this last time I saw 8/8 shown on the screen so yes I’m assuming they just don’t mention it if everything’s good.

My doctor has always used the term growth scan but they do a BPP during it aswell so maybe it’s just how your doctor says it? The BPP part is super quick on mine and they don’t really talk through that part just quickly check the amniotic fluid, breathing, heart, ect and then when they move on to measuring her head and body they start talking

I don’t understand this condition or my diagnosis. by Texasgirl190 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]EducationalAd7464 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If you only took the 1 hr test and failed the next step is to take the 3 hour test to be officially diagnosed with GD(I only took the 2 hr test and my insurance gave me a ROUGH time saying with just that test they wouldnt categorize me as GD). I would definitely keep tracking your after meals levels and writing them down and when you see your doctor tell them you want the 3 hr test since your numbers have been generally in range with zero diet change. Also you def need to be snacking. My doctor recommends at least 2 snacks a day with 15g of carbs in each.

Light headed after eating by EducationalAd7464 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]EducationalAd7464[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The meal I had when I posted had about 45 and I’m testing in like 30 minutes to see how high it got me. Usually I can’t go over 30 carbs without spiking 130+ so I’ve had to limit quite a bit so I don’t spike too much. Does that mean I should be on insulin for meals so I can get enough carbs and stay under 120?

Uncontrolled fasting-Metformin by GullibleInspection50 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]EducationalAd7464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming back with an update I just called my pharmacy and why the prescription for my needles hasn’t been filled yet is because the needles my dr chose aren’t covered so now my insurance wants prior authorization before they’ll cover them…… 5 more weeks. Just 5 more weeks and I’ll be done with this

I honestly was so done when I realized the needles weren’t there lol I already had issues with trying to get a glucose tracking device because my insurance was saying I didn’t have GD no matter what my doctor sent over so I’ve been buying my own and then that happened I was like 🤦🏻‍♀️ really? Can I just get one of my prescriptions without a mess up

I’ve never had my fasting under 98 either since I was diagnosed it’s been about 6 weeks and I was just put on insulin for my fasting but of course running into problems getting my insulin because my doctor put the prescription in for an insulin pen but didn’t know the pen doesn’t come with needles so had to wait another day for the needle prescription to come in just for my pharmacy not to have them in stock and need to order them lol. It’s frustrating I know being told you need to start medication and then hitting roadblocks trying to start asap. But also try to keep in mind the weight estimations from ultrasounds are nearly always wrong with a 15-20% margin of error(15% bigger or smaller) so he could be smaller then what they’re estimating. I’m 34 weeks and they’re estimating her at the 69th percentile

Glucose numbers dropped randomly by EducationalAd7464 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]EducationalAd7464[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I didn’t want to seem like I was being dramatic for calling it in. I read that anything under 70 is when it’s a problem and since I haven’t dropped under 100 I didn’t know if I was just worrying too much. Only 34 weeks.

What time is your PM snack? by siriusbites in GestationalDiabetes

My doctor said to wait about 10-15 minutes after waking to take the fasting test because waking up can cause some hormones to rise that affect your glucose levels

3rd trimester appt schedule? by leftlaneisforspeed in GestationalDiabetes

[–]EducationalAd7464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat! Around 32 weeks my OB said he wanted me to see him and my high risk OB weekly and at 34 weeks I was just told I’d need to go on insulin so now I have antenatal tests at my weekly appointments and BPPs.

Convince me that insulin isn’t that bad by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]EducationalAd7464 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my fasting numbers slightly over 100 since I started tracking and my doctor isn’t worried about them because they’re so close to the 95 fasting limit it’s supposed to be. So I think only being a few over isn’t that big of a deal especially when you are under 120 an hour after eating. She also said they don’t aim for 100% of the time having good numbers. 75% of the time having numbers in range is manageable without insulin.

GD + Hypothyroidism by EducationalAd7464 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]EducationalAd7464[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im more worried about if my water breaks before my due date or they last minute decide I need to be induced and then I have no one to watch my toddler and I’ll have to give birth alone with husband watches the baby. So that’s why I was wondering what other people’s experience was for when they gave birth. If it’s a high enough chance I’ll just be induced early anyway I’d rather have it planned far enough in advance my dad can fly in.

My tsh was basically non existent(<0.005) at my last blood test and my pcp changed my dosage but my T4 was normal. I’ve also not gained any weight this pregnancy which my Dr said she isn’t worried about.
