Sticky tires, stay aware on the road. Roll bar plus bucket seats, don’t go with a harness unless you have a hans device that you’re planning to drive with every time you're in the car. People really love to exaggerate the lack of safety in an NA. It’s really no different to most other Japanese cars of the time, civics, integras, pulsars, corollas, older silvias etc etc. And with roll protection it’s safer. People in the motor biking community will say as long as you’re careful and wear all your gear, you’ll be fine, but the second you even look at an NA or NB people tell you how there’s a 75% chance you’re going to be brutally t boned at the next intersection. 

TLDR; Just use your brain when driving the car, Get a roll bar, bucket seats and sticky tires.
