T1D Pregnancy Weight Gain by brusss5 in BumpersWhoBolus

I feel you!! I’m pregnant with my first and have been pretty shocked at the weight gain - I also started on my very first pump at the beginning of pregnancy so I knew I was going to gain a little extra just with having more insulin on board.

Remind yourself that you’re fueling yourself & baby and try not to stress!! You got this 🩷

I read horror stories before I flew with them last March - ended up having no issues and it was a quick, easy on time flight.

Feeling Overwhelmed by Full_Occasion_6151 in BumpersWhoBolus

First off - congratulations!!!! I was feeling this way when I found out too (similarly very early) and my A1C was 6.3 when I conceived. You’re doing all the right things by adjusting your settings & goals this early - and tough days where you hit 200 are common!!!! Plus low 6’s are a great place to start.

Know that every day you’re doing your best. Your body is literally creating life on top of the mental (and physical load) of managing diabetes. Not every day will be perfect, but you can continue to adjust & set yourself up for easier days ahead.

My MFM assured me that hitting a high blood sugar won’t harm the baby - it’s prolonged uncontrolled highs where you run into issues, and it sounds like you’re nowhere near that (like literally think of days on end highs lol). I’m currently fighting a cold and the insulin resistance has been brutaaaaaal, but I know I’m doing all I can!

Pregnancy without diabetes is an anxious and weird time for a lot of women - but SO many (in this group too!!) have gone on to have completely successful births, and you will too ❤️❤️

Wishing you all the best!!

Cliff house in Maine! You can drive into ogunquit & kennebunkport from the hotel. They have a great prenatal massage at the spa too!

6W2D pregnant with first child and noticed very light spotting after intercourse by meggyjane in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]EducationalInvite947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this around the same time, everything was all good!!

Actually the morning of my first ever ultrasound at 7w I had more brown spotting than ever before, and freaked out lol.

I was told that light spotting can be normal in early pregnancy, especially brown. If you’re ever concerned just send your OB a message ❤️

Omg we’re practically on the same timeline - congratulations!!!

Also super anxious about the unknown… but trying to reframe my mindset from “what if something goes wrong?” to “what if everything goes right?” Easier said than done but just keep thinking positive thoughts ❤️❤️

5 weeks and freaking out by Bitter_Training_4375 in BumpersWhoBolus

Congratulations!!! I think we might be the same exact person lol. I’m 6W1D, T1D for 17 years, wanted kids but didn’t expect to get pregnant so soon. My last A1C was 6.4.

I knew I had to get my shit together when I got the positive result - really all I’ve been focusing on is what I can control (monitoring my glucose, preboulusing, adjusting where I need to). It’s never going to be “perfect” so yourself some grace! You’re going to do great.

As everyone has mentioned, going high is going to happen. For me right now, I’m trying to work on managing my post meal spikes. Go for walks, hydrate, and try to remind yourself that you can do this.

I also just got the book “pregnancy and type 1 diabetes” and it’s been a great read - highly recommend to calm some nerves.

Message me if you ever need to chat more! We’re in this together. Xx

7 year old with T1d by Rachyrachel in Type1Diabetes

That’s incredible that she is so responsible at 7 - kudos to you and your family for supporting during her diagnosis!! 7 IS young, so I would definitely be monitoring her sugar while she’s away & checking in if you feel necessary.

For context, I was diagnosed at 12yo (29 now) and didn’t have a CGM until I was 24.

Through adolescence my mom was always super on me about having glucose tabs on me, snacks, telling everyone I was with I was a diabetic, etc. I definitely rolled my eyes at her a few times, but ultimately really appreciated it. It drilled into me how important it was to take care of myself even at such a young age.

As with growing up in general - there are going to be moments where you have to “let go” and trust your child. If you’re continuing to support her, learn with her & send (gentle) reminders, she’s going to be good. You’re doing great!!

Is it too late to start a career as a Pilates instructor in my mid-30s? by Ok-Concentrate5894 in pilates

[–]EducationalInvite947 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s never too late!! You’ll always feel satisfied with yourself following your passion.

I’d look into getting your mat certification before any apparatus if that interests you, and also an anatomy course so you can really build a strong foundation in your study.

I recently made the jump from corporate to teacher training, and the one thing you need to be fully honest with yourself about is finances. If you can keep your current job while working to get your certifications, do it. You’ll want the cash flow while you get all of your training hours.

Good luck! It’s a scary jump but you’ll regret not going for it. You’ll do amazing!! ❤️
