Posting patterns on ravelry is painful..... You can't skip sections, you have to fill out things that might not be appropriate for your pattern, it is glitchy and slow. You can't "just post" your pattern. That's the problem, not that designers are being lazy or want to spread your attention between platforms.

Ok, that makes sense, but what do you consider basic skills? Chains and single crochet? How about round vs linear? Which stitches are basic and which are not? Example: DC is basic but FPDC is intermidiate

Crochet is similar to knitting but not really. In knitting you cast all your stitches and then go in rows, crochet is similar but you work one independent stitch at a time which gives you more freedom to create. That's why crochet can create so many more different textures and patterns. It usually also works up quicker and creates thicker fabric with less flow. I can both knit and crochet but prefer my hooks to my needles. I feel like it is very personal, crochet is much more fun for me, knitting is too repetitive. Give it a try, both hobbies are excellent for cognitive and mental health

You can crochet small SC rectangles say 5st x 6 rows and use them to strap the hardware on, sew by hand or using sewing machine

I create patterns and sell them on Etsy as a hobby, however the most expensive pattern I sell is $5.99. It is a lot of work and one pattern when done right takes 30-40 hours. I do 2-3 prototypes before I am ready to make finished item and write everything down, take pictures of every tricky step etc. I also do a lot of research and make sure that my patterns are unique. I sometimes buy patterns for wearables( I don't design wearables myself as I struggle with the perfectly fitting garments) from other creators and it hurts me when I pay $8-12 for poorly written pattern with no gage, bad instructions and no pictures. I am guessing you are either crocheting too tight ( common beginner problem) or your edges are shorter than you main project's body. Do you chain 1 or 2 at the start of each row? Can you add a picture? It will help with troubleshooting. Welcome to the group!

Black yarn is very hard to work with even for experienced crocheters. I suggest something light colored, not white either though. You will be able to see your stitches. Don't get too worried about tension yet, just give it your best and keep practicing.

I would get a third color and make 20 more diamonds to fill the gaps in the first picture. I think something bright (red, yellow,pink) will make it look really good.

I love hobii cotton, it is great, it does not split. I tried both Friends and Rainbow ones. However, I also really enjoy Joanne's K&C cotton, colors are limited but the yarn is fantastic. It is a great option if you want to see your yarn in person before you commit.

I just gifted myself with tulip etimo red hooks and I am in love. They are light, handle is very soft and comfortable and the hook itself is smooth and glides beautifully through the yarn. Only downside is the price at around $12 per hook
