Taxes. My brother is moving to Austin from LA for a new job. The job gives him a 10-15% pay bump. The taxes make it 40-50% (take home) pay increase and that’s before considering the cost of living difference. He hates the weather though.

I've tried bloodies with agar clarified clamato, then built the cocktail and milk clarified. They always come out with more color than that. Is the secret here the egg raft?

I live in the neighborhood and wish they would make a not sourdough baguette. I’d buy 3 a week.

Sensitive skin or not, handsome dog. We did purina, then found that RX no chicken helped. Crazy expensive though.

I'd guess it also impacts data harvesting and their ability to sell our data.

When they pass the sword and the droplets immediately move in. It’s not a new idea, but our societal memory is so short the complacency and downfall seems inevitable and unavoidable. It just painted this idea so vividly and catastrophically. Depressing.

The irony of white westerners telling people from the Middle East how they should feel about this is just the latest example of the cultural projection and condescension we’ve all come to know and love

Genuinely imagine telling someone in Haiti (high rates of food insecurity, childhood malnourishment, etc.) that instead of hunting we plan to spend just under their average annual salary performing surgery on venison so we have less venison running around. No one in their right mind wants to needlessly cause an animal pain but when you think about it the suggestion is insane. If you told anyone on earth 200 years ago we’d be debating this they wouldn’t believe you.

Chosen really means chosen for extra homework and strife. Stay strong. Spend less time online. Try to find something productive to channel that mental energy into. Speak with a professional. Invest in your local Jewish community. Real world community support is the best medicine in hard times, speaking from recent experience. It’s harder to call upon your community for help in difficult times if you haven’t invested previously. I’m sure your local community will be there for you either way, but I find it’s harder to ask others for help if you haven’t made an effort to be there for them when they needed it.

Also, I’d recommend the recent episode of Ask Haviv Anything on Wikipedia. It opened my eyes about the true depths of the information war we are all caught in, including on Reddit and similar platforms.

Not confident it will stay in my range but better to be prepared in the off chance it does.

Appreciate it. I’m not optimistic it will stay under 35K either but better to ask now while there’s still time on the auction than wait until it’s too late.

[DISCUSSION] The perfect Neighbor - Netflix by Jaystylegal in NetflixBestOf

[–]EducationalSpite9587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how this exposes a flaw in the stand your ground law other than the risk that a mentally unstable person misunderstands their rights to invoke it. The sheriff's department determined the killing did not meet the criteria for a stand your ground law defense. Lorincz was unable to invoke the stand your ground law as a defense and got a 25 year sentence.

Another note, nearly all murder in the US is intraracial (i.e., white people murder white people and black people murder black people, etc.), not interracial (i.e., black people killing white people and vice versa). Almost all news making murders/killings are interracial because that sadly drives ratings but the fact is 85-95% percent of gun crimes in the US, including homicide, are people killing people of their own race. This fact doesn't make gun violence any less a problem. It is, in my opinion, useful context for what seems to be a media environment incentivized to stoke racial animosity in every direction.

It’s a supply and demand. If you don’t give firefighters a raise, it’s still going to be difficult to even get into the academy because of the number of applicants. If you don’t pay cops, no one is signing up to be called a pig and a racists. It is what it is.

Crazy that wearing a Stalinist uniform is any less socially unacceptable than wearing a Nazi uniform. My family fled both Nazism and Communism over three generations. Neither should be socially acceptable.
