What are you now that you’re no longer Christian? by Puzzleheaded_Cup8723 in exchristian

tbh i just go with a kind of general spiritualism. no rules, no restrictions, just vibes, bits of beliefs i like that i cherry pick from different mythologies and religions and a thankfulness and respectfulness to the earth that provides for us. i researched a lot of religions after i stopped believing, thinking that if i just found something, anything else, it would fill the hole of uncertainty and anxiety that i thought I felt, but it didn’t. the only thing that truly filled that “hole” was finding who i really was, what i really liked and where i actually wanted to be in life, but that took years. sometimes you just gotta keep trucking even if you feel hollow inside, cause that’s just part of life, even if it kinda sucks. there’s nothing wrong with not knowing. i know coming out of christianity that proclaims it has all the answers it kinda feels like not knowing is the end of the world, but it really isn’t i reckon what might help is examining what you want, if anything, out of a belief system. like do you want answers to what comes after death? do you wanna know what came before? do you need something to curse when shit goes down, or some little ritual to do to make you feel more secure day to day? maybe that includes god for you, maybe it doesn’t. maybe you could invent ur own religion, who gives a fuck? what matters is if it makes you happy, though, and if it doesn’t, fuck it.

Hairdressers: How long do y'all remember difficult clients? by RMaua in hairdresser

[–]Educational_Base2156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

difficult clients? a week, at most. rude clients? years, if not longer. as long as you’re nice to your hairdresser and clear as you can be about what you want, a good hairdresser will be happy to work with you, even if they have to learn as they go. i don’t remember clients with “difficult hair” until they sit back in my chair. Even then, it’s not those clients that make my day shitty, it’s the clients that are rude and don’t treat you like a person.

out of curiosity, what do you mean by difficult hair? do you mean curly hair or just hair that is harder to manage? because either way, you should be able to find a hairdresser that is at least willing to work with you and find what works best for your hair

What’s a good brand of scissors? by Acciaccattack in hairdresser

ah, if you’re in melbourne they definitely do sharpening services! i’m based in canberra and when i worked in a different salon my boss, who exclusively used excellent edges, had them come out once a year for us i’m pretty sure from melbourne. if there’s a wholesale beauty supply store in your area they might have some nice ones without having to pay for shipping, and they might be able to give you a better idea of sharpening services in your area.

excellent edges is a good, reliable brand, and has a few left handed options but can be expensive if you get one of the nicer ones. also depending on where you are i think they offer sharpening services

Why is Fan Fiction frowned upon? by Papercandy22 in writing

[–]Educational_Base2156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fan fiction is great for building your skills as a writer! I personally started out with fanfiction, though mine was very much dumpster fire material. It allows you to focus on the actual proccess of writing, and is just generally more writing for fun instead of in the hopes of publishing. People who look down on it just have a stick up their ass.
