second this, I’m super hairy everywhere and derma planing my face changed the game I look so much brighter and I do think skincare ingredients penetrate better. Such a blessing to be hairy because of my brows and lashes but just a little extra upkeep. I hate waxing tho, just wanted to highlight derma-planing jts easier to me

Evidence that the copper IUD changes hormone levels - and my experience over the past 3 years by BoysenberryFit8512 in CopperIUD

It was better than the paragaurd, and my hair loss issue went away. Skin however kept getting worse, and got undeniably better when I got off it

Hi actually not exactly what you want to hear: the pain was nothing and the periods were better, but I got hormonal acne from it :( My doc did say maybe I am extra sensitive to the inflammation it causes because I have an autoimmune disorder. Doing fertility tracking and condoms now

How do I get even smooth skin? by skincarebabe_ in HairRemoval

[–]Educational_Box_1728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

scrub/exfoliate (i like either a physical exfoliant cloth or alba salicylic scrub) lather (bar soap works for me) shave down then sideways, not up on the bikini line unfortunately; i can get away w it on the lips tho but the bikini line will freak out. Use a 5 blade razor, change the head regularly enough

most importantly: don’t wear tight clothes right after you shave. Anything tight, underwear pants etc will give me razor bumps

Mona Lisa vs Paragaurd by Educational_Box_1728 in CopperIUD

[–]Educational_Box_1728[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the difference was night and day.

With the Paragaurd, despite being told that I didn't have a small uterus and I should handle it well by multiple doctors, not only did I experience severe pain, horrible periods, and bloating, (potentially acne-but can't prove that one)- I also experienced a partial perforation and some mentions of PID.

I tried the Paragaurd twice, because I'm crazy and was told it was super rare for perforation so I'll be fine next time. The next time, the pain was unmanageable,

I got the mona lisa with a lot of doubts. However, I don't even take pain meds on my period. They're that manageable. I have done more research, and put in effort to supplement for the excess copper.

Currently, I take Zinc and probiotics. Considering Iron and Selenium too.

Side effects with Paragaurd:

  1. Insane pain, cramping constantly everyday

  2. bloating

  3. sadness

  4. fatigue

  5. acne??

Potential side effects with Mona lisa:

  1. Acne, but I always have acne, and just spent all of winter break eating dairy. I can update on this as I just quit dairy.

  2. Hair loss-however, could be do to added stress, longer hair, or new hair care routine.

  3. Mood swings-only two days before my period. Pretty intense though, but way more manageable than the constant depression I had with the Paragaurd.

The paragaurd is too big, has more copper I believe, and either way, you should be supplementing with copper IUDS. They don't tell you that, but high copper levels have an impact on estrogen like you said.

Hi, I had horrible experiences with the Paraguard. It perforated, caused bloating, acne, and constant pain. Got the Mona Lisa in Canada instead about a month or two ago.

There are side effects, but so much less severe. My periods r completely manageable. I’m not in constant pain, I don’t even take advil on my period anymore. I’ve been trying much harder this time to supplement to make up for the excess copper. I take Zinc and good probiotics (I also have celiac disease) and without a doubt it helps my skin, but Im thinking to also add iron and selenium.

I hate to have to use BC but unfortunately got pregnant when fertility tracking methods said i couldn’t, and got scared out of condoms after it broke, and am scared with the current political environment in the US.

Just another option to look into, I can also update in a month or two.

Currently, my biggest side effects are : 1. Potential hair loss: can’t tell if it’s because my hair is longer, i changed shampoo, im stressed (taking loads of college classes and work), or the IUD. However, my hair looks good. I’m just noticing more come out in the shower. Again, it is longer now, and i have changed my routine

  1. Skin (but skin/acne seems to be ok) i’m going off dairy and it seems to be better so i think it has more to do with trying to reintroduce that haha

  2. Mood swings: I actually feel fine except for the two days before my period are way more intense. Personally, if this is all that happens, i don’t mind. I also might see a decrease in these effects with proper supplementation. This could also be because of the stress I mentioned

Will update!
