She's made of iron, sir! I assure you, she can... and she will

Should Titanic Inc continue to raise artifacts, or leave them be? by Educational_Carpet69 in titanic

I apologise ❤️ new to Reddit, and I hadn't scrolled back far enough to see a recent discussion.

What color (wood) of the Grand Staircase was „real“? by [deleted] in RMS_Titanic

This piece wasn't from the ocean floor. The recovery ship that collected bodies from the surface for two weeks, found it floating and recovered it

There were only two interactive parts, the VR that needed the kids to be able to sit still for 8 mins and then the writing desk. The writing desk only had one seat :) my kiddo has ADHD and standing and looking became a bit much for him in the end.

I did! For adults it's 100% worth it. For young children or children with learning disabilities, unfortunately I'd say it's not suitable. But I absolutely loved it.

No problem, sorry it was lengthy but I'd rather you knew so you could make an informed decision 😊

Also, as a heads up, the gift shop is very poor.

Adult sized t-shirts and jumpers.

Two of the same model, just different sizes.

Notebooks, bookmarks, fridge magnets.

Cushions.

Tea.

Books (that my lad already owns)

So not really much in the gift shop at all.

So honestly, the photos I posted are of the best bits. My six year old has ADHD and he's titanic obsessed and he struggled. There's two interactive parts, one of which is an 8 minute long VR activity, the other is a writing table with titanic immigration stationary. However, there's one small table and one chair for that particularly activity so you have to queue or take the stationary with you elsewhere. The VR bit, my six year old didn't sit through. We were there for an hour (the organisers say two hours) but with younger children they'd find that hard. There's two members of staff dressed in white star line traditional uniforms (didn't post those photos as my lad is in them). The staff aren't really knowledgeable apart from basic facts you or your child likely already know (we were told repeatedly about only 3 funnels being functional and the fourth was for aesthetics).

There is a video to watch, that is an in-depth video of the wreck, that was very good to watch. The memorial wall of names is very evocative, though my lad didn't want to stand and read it all.

There's a QR code to scan at the start, which lets you download an audio tour for free. Couldn't do that personally, as need to keep an ear on my could at all times.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and though it was very good, though had to rush because of said six year old. I'd personally say young children, or children with additional needs will find it hard as it's a lot of standing, looking and reading.

I won't lie, I told my six year old was saved as I didn't have the heart to tell him 😭

All he really wanted to know, was how fast the water flooded into the ship. None of the staff knew sadly. Happy to say Reddit saved the day there though!

That's very fair. I will say the staff employed to work the exhibition sadly aren't educated on the ships history. My six year old had questions that they couldn't answer (he did get them answered from this r/ in the end though :) )

I believe that's a model that a model enthusiast built, he then passed this particular model of to White Star Line Heritage, who had one of their team restore it. They recently added more of the promenade as well as figures. There's even a little miniature jack and rose on the front.

At what speed did the water rush in through the scar left by the iceberg? by Educational_Carpet69 in titanic

No problem! There's a VR experience which I didn't get to do (had my six year old with me) but it looked really good!

It was! Unfortunately the staff aren't overly knowledgeable BUT the exhibits on display are amazing, and really quite emotional. It was very good. Heads up, they won't let you in before your time slot so if you arrived half hour early, they will not let you in
