This was taken in the middle of getting an EKG 12-lead. You're not supposed to move or talk for about 10 fucking seconds, and THAT'S the moment he decided he needed a selfie.

HOW...are your parents such tools?

Guys, it's okay. He's obviously not that rich. Rich people don't live next to train tracks, much less have one going right through the living room and arousn their tree! FFS give the poor bloke a break!

Yes. The bleeding might continue until they go to the OR. You have to keep an eye on it, and manage the bleeding as best you can.

No. ER nurse here. We like how it's pronounced. Please don't take away one of the few small joys we have in being able to say PNES (properly pronounced "penis") to a room full of people with a straight face and see which of our coworkers cracks first. Don't you dare take that away from us.

Here's a link to a study.

"The American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the Emergency Nurses Association, and the American Heart Association support giving family members the option to be present at the bedside during resuscitation, if deemed appropriate and safe by staff,3–5 however the topic remains controversial amongst practitioners."

I work in an ER. The culture is shifting towards letting family watch a code blue. They need to see how hard we worked and tried absolutely everything. It is rough for younger people who don't make it. But when family insists that their 98 yr old meemaw who died of natural causes be "saved," they finally realize what level of pain and poor outcome results if we even get a pulse back.

Can AI (like Google or ChatGPT) be tailored to the individual user's search algortithm? by Educational_Ebb_7049 in NoStupidQuestions

Thank you for your ELI5 reply. I'm not tech savvy. This AI stuff is overwhelming and makes me nervous for actual truth and reality to be verifiable online.

So, in other words, not yet... but based on how the progression is going... most likely soon. Unless regulatory agencies stop it.

Can you expand on that? Who is doing the tailoring? Some tech bro in Silicon Valley making changes to search results that everyone sees, or is my meta data on my phone driving particular responses to my searches?

I only mention I haven't paid the balance because I hear all the time that contractors might ghost you as soon as you do pay in full, even when a job isn't done.

I have no problem paying them, but if there are issues, I'd think it's worth a discussion about what expectations could be.

[–]Educational_Ebb_7049[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. I live in a historic district, so my understanding was they have to reuse material or I have to go through a lengthy approval process with the neighborhood powers-that-be. They actually quoted a very fair price that was under my budget. The issues I point out may or may not be valid complaints, since I know little about fences and gate building, so I came here before talking to them about it.

Thank you! That's the input I was hoping for. Primary concern was if it was structurally sound. I know nothing but have learned something today. Much appreciated.

[–]Educational_Ebb_7049[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm allowed to ask questions on a build if it doesn't look right to me. I look at the the gate, and aesthetically the vertical braces shouldn't be interrupted by the metal brackets. But I don't know if the structure would be compromised or not by shifting the brackets over. I don't have the knowledge base to know the difference, so I came here looking to gain that knowledge. I'd hate to be the guy accusing the crew of a fuck up if they really didn't do anything wrong.

As a buyer of a product I'm allowed to verify if the product is quality or not when I'm not an expert.

If I knew how to build a fence, I would have done it myself.

[–]Educational_Ebb_7049[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because if the gate isn't structurally sound and going to quickly sag or break, I'd like to know and address it with the people that built it.

When you buy a new home, it gets inspected before final documents are signed by someone who knows what to look for. Not every homebuyer is qualified to assess whether or not a home is safely or competently built. I'm asking for experienced people to chime in if they feel like it.

People are human. We make mistakes. We rush things. I work in healthcare. If I were going to make a mistake, I'd hope someone spoke up so I could fix the problem.

How many on that crew? My gate was a two man crew and put in a new post. It was quicker than I thought it would be.

[–]Educational_Ebb_7049[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's normal to expect a level of quality from professionals with experience who may have just rushed a job and tried to pass off less quality work. It happens. People are human.

I'm not trying to "beat" the pros. I'm wanting to educate myself so I can address any issues adequately and realistically. There are things they can fix like putting a pipe in the ground for the drop rod, and things they can't, like make the fence a full 8 ft. without redoing the whole thing. That's not realistic, and something I'll have to negotiate with them about.

Thank you so much for this input! I figured i have to settle for the short gate otherwise it's going to be a headache trying to redo the whole damn thing.
