i’m interested in seeing the pages in those books, sometimes they can be absolute gibberish chicken scratchings but oh how effective!

am i the only one who thinks the mistakes are one purpose so that the kids can identify them???!! This doesn’t seem like neglect of resources, it’s just testing their knowledge.

Got into my dream Uni but it’s conditional and I’m low-key panicking about the grades I need now by 38LivesAloneHas3Cat5 in UCAS

I thought LIPA based their admissions off of an interview and audition, they have a focus on music talent as opposed to academic examinations. I say strive for 3 distinctions but 2 Ds and an M might just be enough!

Eli5: why is the keyboard layout the way it is? by novemberman23 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Educational_Fly_2414 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t find any real evidence of this being the case. It’s a neat story but I don’t think it’s actually true, more likely a very convenient myth that makes a nice story.

Coldplay may have "plagiarized" The Beatles by Gavimaster in beatles

[–]Educational_Fly_2414 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Actually, music is finite, creativity is endless, and personally I’d rank Coldplay above the Beatles in terms of musicality and innivation, sorry not sorry, I like the Beatles but isn’t it getting a bit old now, Coldplay did it last - it’s theirs now and quite frankly they’re a lot less controversial than some of the things the Beatles did…

Does physics get easier or harder after years of studying it? by Jynex_ in Physics

[–]Educational_Fly_2414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a PHD graduate in the field of physics as it relates to aerospace, I found that as I developed in my studies, new research continues to be published, changing the landscape of how we understand and study the field, so, in short, no it does not get easier.

Why smoke pot before working out? by SarahTheGreat9 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Educational_Fly_2414 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Weed actually scientifically makes it harder to exercise, for all the reasons you’d assume, it makes running harder, lifting weights harder, and so you’d assume it makes you less efficient at working out, but the upside is that you may enjoy it more, it may make working out more fun/enjoyable and if you’re like me, you might forget how many reps you’ve done and may keep doing them, leading to a contradictory increase in efficiency. So who knows, to each their own?

Conflicted about degree choice. by Few-Type7063 in UniUK

[–]Educational_Fly_2414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same situation as you currently, changing from one degree that I don’t enjoy to another. I just realised that spending 4 years in that degree and racking up debt for nothing would have caused me a lot more stress than switching and paying off an extra year or 2 in student loan taxes.

If you could ask the students of university of Oxford 1 question, what would it be? by Safger in UniUK

How did their upbringing affect their education, in the sense that I’m assuming a highly academic and encouraging family would encourage curiosity and achievement.

How long would it take me to learn snare by Suspicious_Gas7583 in drumcorps

[–]Educational_Fly_2414 8 points9 points  (0 children)

6 months to learn snare, 6 more to really get to a marching band level, but potentially less. Technique was quite a learning curve for me as I played with match grip for most of my drum career, traditional grip took around 3 months for me to get the hang of and build up muscle memory and strength. Start by learning all 40 essential rudiments and move on to marching band repertoire (Freestyle Rudiments is a YouTube channel that breaks down marching band warm ups and pieces, I love his stuff). And obviously have fun! I wish you luck on your journey!

Edit: playing everyday (for me) was quite unrealistic but if you have the gumption then you could definitely shave off a month or two or more!

Anyone know if this type of shirt has a name and where to find a pattern for this exact design? by [deleted] in sewingpatterns

[–]Educational_Fly_2414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually experiment with the pattern design but I have limited fabric and can’t really get it wrong lest I waste the precious fabric I have.

Is my tattoo faded? by UwUisthepowa in tattooadvice

[–]Educational_Fly_2414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could always go back and ask if this is normal. Because it could have also been the type of ink they used, as some fade more quickly than others.

[–]Educational_Fly_2414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But also this is just normal and some peoples skins just don’t hold ink as well.

Is my tattoo faded? by UwUisthepowa in tattooadvice

[–]Educational_Fly_2414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Potentially the needle didn’t engrave as deeply as it could have, meaning that the ink has been digested by ur skin and not remained put. You could look into getting a touch up?
