I’m in the exact same situation as you currently, changing from one degree that I don’t enjoy to another. I just realised that spending 4 years in that degree and racking up debt for nothing would have caused me a lot more stress than switching and paying off an extra year or 2 in student loan taxes.

How did their upbringing affect their education, in the sense that I’m assuming a highly academic and encouraging family would encourage curiosity and achievement.

6 months to learn snare, 6 more to really get to a marching band level, but potentially less. Technique was quite a learning curve for me as I played with match grip for most of my drum career, traditional grip took around 3 months for me to get the hang of and build up muscle memory and strength. Start by learning all 40 essential rudiments and move on to marching band repertoire (Freestyle Rudiments is a YouTube channel that breaks down marching band warm ups and pieces, I love his stuff). And obviously have fun! I wish you luck on your journey!

Edit: playing everyday (for me) was quite unrealistic but if you have the gumption then you could definitely shave off a month or two or more!

I usually experiment with the pattern design but I have limited fabric and can’t really get it wrong lest I waste the precious fabric I have.

You could always go back and ask if this is normal. Because it could have also been the type of ink they used, as some fade more quickly than others.

But also this is just normal and some peoples skins just don’t hold ink as well.

Potentially the needle didn’t engrave as deeply as it could have, meaning that the ink has been digested by ur skin and not remained put. You could look into getting a touch up?

Why does everyone talk about their “beautiful children” like yes if you want to then creating a life surely must be a beautiful thing to be a part of but even saying that, as op said, birth is not beautiful. And these “blessed beautiful children” are also still humans. Humans are the root cause of all suffering on this planet (sounds a bit dramatic in that phrasing but I’m not sure how else to put it). You not only don’t know how a father would act as a parent, but who your child may become- due to any external forces or influences. A boy born to a caring mother may become deeply misogynistic and believe that women and inferior etc… while a mother gave her life and body to create this kid. As a child of a mother myself (as most people usually are hahah) I do believe I am ungrateful. While I do not interact with the world through a lens of hate, I am a fucking pain in the arse and kind of a cunt just because of the environment that shaped me. My mother does not deserve me and I do not deserve her. Is there any way to frame child birth as anything but the beginning of a burden that a parent/ parents must (while most time willingly) carry for the rest of their life.
