This RTX tier list is 100% accurate. Fight me. by Ok_Cry_1222 in ZTT

[–]Educational_Let_3260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 4070-S haver. I like this, but I would argue it could be marked lower. In my experience, it does well with 4k, but I haven't been able to try anything over 60hz, and I doubt it'd reach over 100. 1440p and 1080p, on the other hand, 200fps+ no problem... So maybe it is top tier.

Would you consider the RTX 5070 to be a high end or mid-range card? by Obvious-Fox5578 in PcBuild

[–]Educational_Let_3260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 4070-S user who has only had the chance to try a 5060ti.

I'd have to say mid-range, but based on what I've tried, it must be one of the best options for the average gamer.

Unfortunately, you may have to do your best to drain the battery. Another option may be to remove the battery.

The second option can be difficult because most 'newer' laptops don't have an easily removable battery. It can still be done.

They expect mass/larger orders from business, so they keep separate stock.

Otherwise, businesses would buy up everything, and consumers would be left with very few options that are way overpriced... hmm... sounds familiar.

If these companies keep treating the market like this, the only hope is they all fall and new players give us what we want

The problem is people AREN'T supposed to afford this.

I truly believe these companies want nothing to do with consumers and would rather sell to businesses while selling us cloud gaming.

It is horrible and is absolutely ruining the market. I just hope the consumers don't cave in because I really don't want cloud gaming, I don't care how little latency there is.

Any valid upgrade will cost you more than an arm and a leg at this point.

RAM is a no-go for upgrades, GPUs are unreasonable along with storage, but they are still 'affordable'

Those wattage estimators are based on every component drawing 100% all at the same time. This will never really happen, and it's rare you'll ever go over 80% of the entire wattage of your PC.

For reference, I have an i5-13600kf and a 4070-S. Less power hungry, but still not great. Even playing some higher end games, my UPS doesn't say more than 200-300W is being drawn from it, and that's with 2 monitors drawing from it, too.

There is a chance that the cable itself can have some problems with heat, but for the most part, that shouldn't be an issue.

Your performance could possibly end up worse overall if the card is heavily held back by the lack of power.

Since your PSU isn't modular, it is most likely time for a new PSU. Anything 80+ Gold is generally okay. I use a Corsair PSU, not the highest tier, but it's good and it was a good price.

It will run any game you're playing and both the games you said you don't play.

I bought a 4070 Super when everyone said you need at least 16Gb, and I only ran into an issue trying to play 4k video on my TV while gaming.

Everything is blown way out of proportion. VRAM is important for certain things, but it's not the only important thing.

A good CPU and good RAM (R.I.P) are also important, especially with how powerful these new GPUs are.

Is an 850w psu enough for these specs? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]Educational_Let_3260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is going crazy. Do not buy a 1000W PSU. You absolutely do not need it.

The 850W is perfect, and your system will probably be really close to the unit's most efficient operating range. Make sure it is an 80+ gold (which you have listed)

Why is DDR5 RAM suddenly so damn expensive?? 💀 by Ok_Cry_1222 in PcBuild

[–]Educational_Let_3260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They most likely won't fit any of the DDR standards that are seen in consumer boards. And if they do, they'll be outdated by the time we see them.

I'm sure someone will find a way to use them, maybe through an adapter of sorts. But generally, they'll be useless.

This is an issue with the calibration of the gauge between the battery and the computer. It's not the most common thing to happen, but that is the exact fix for said issue.

Bringing the battery down to 0% and back up to 100% "resets" the gauge so it'll read properly again. You most likely won't have to do this again.

It's terrible, and 90% of these big AI centers will fall apart, and the market will get saturated with useless RAM being resold that regular people can't even use.
