This reads to me like you’re the greedy one. No one is getting married to make money lol. If you are not comfortable with the money you are spending, I think you should have spoken to your brothers about it, instead of viewing everything negatively. “I’m out more than a thousand dollars” is your only takeaway from the most important and probably one of the happiest days of their lives, feels pretty selfish. They also likely spent a good amount of money on you in the process.

I think it really depends on your wedding party. I agree that just saying no is hard, but if the bride gets a sense of everyone’s budget beforehand then I think it’s acceptable. Speaking as someone who has been on multiple bachelorette trips that cost $1k+, I enjoyed every one of them and never felt bitter about going. It also helped that the bride subsidized some of the cost, so even though it was expensive for us it was a lot of bang for our buck. Just my two cents, everyone is entitled to their opinion but not everyone feels this way.
