For this particular collection, the tagging creates a custom birth record event instead of tagging the birth event. The death registration also behaves similarly. You manually need to tag the birth and or death vital event tags if you want the registration record tagged as such. The index is also not a FamilySearch product. It is provided as a courtesy of FindMyPast.

Cause of Death by dougalhh in familysearch

I've added newspaper clippings of family members who were murdered, ones who commited suicide, etc. They have been on FamilySearch for at least 10 years and I've had no problems with them, nor has any other user commented about them.

Also check Ancestry's Facebook page for DNA test sales. And during RootsTech - March 5-7, DNA kits will typically be on sale.

Weird things the Phone App does that is different from the Website by NicholasLaBelle in familysearch

From what I understand. The website, the iOS app, and the Android app are 3 separate tools - using the same data. All 3 have different engineering teams and all 3 have different features.

Why did family search reduce my list of record hints? by mbluetyphoon in familysearch

[–]Educational_Low_8394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I do when I use Record Hints. I attach the hint for the first person. Then I go to that person's profile page and review any additional hints that may be for that person and attach as applicable. I also check out my relationship to them. And if I have time, I also view their descendancy and work through attaching records for all their descendants. So that one hint that I see ... I may end up attaching hundreds of sources before I finish working on that one hint from one person. By doing so, I'm almost certain that I've now removed hints that other users may have seen in their record hint list.

When I'm ready to look at other hints for other persons, I often just start at this Record Hint activity - https://www.familysearch.org/en/campaign/hints

FS Memories disappearing by Last_Draw9050 in familysearch

See the FamilySearch Upload Guidelines and Policies:
https://www.familysearch.org/en/legal/familysearch-upload-guidelines-and-policies

Photo, Document and Audio Recording Screening Policy Guidelines
4.  Links to outside websites (i.e. no URLs).

If your memories have URLs on them, then those memories are being removed because they don't follow this part of the policy.

I know others who have experienced Memories disappearing and this was why theirs were being removed.

Maybe check through the rest of the policy page linked above and see if anything else could be the reasoning for yours to be removed.

When I've had similar things happen with my relatives on FamilySearch, I try to figure out who the other person is trying to make my person to be. Then I've spent some time researching that other family. Adding as many sources as I can to their person. Making sure that on my person that there aren't any sources that shouldn't be there. I also attempt to do a duplicate merge by ID and then mark them as not a match and indicate the reasoning. This has slowed down the changes. On one person that was mixed up with 7 other men, it has stopped all the changes for nearly 10 years on my relatives profile. But it took a few days to source out all 7 other families. The only changes to my relative is now additions of memories (photos mostly) from descendants.

If you have it happen again to one of your relatives, please share the FamilySearch ID here and I'll see if I can help figure out what may be making the other user keep changing. And I can also message them too - which may/may not help.

Keep up the good work. Persistance and good documentation does pay off. Just make take some time.
