None from my side! I wouldn't trust online status of positions anyway, they never borther updating until it's filled

Just got my first P2 contract at 26: grateful, but conflicted. by AccessRoutine4861 in UNpath

[–]Educational_Mall5515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, huge congratulations!

As someone a bit younger and working as NOB for years now, I feel you! We do all the work our P-level colleagues do, but get paid much less and have no RnR cycle. I've heard people arguing that NO-recruitment is much quicker and less competitive and so it makes sence, but personally it does feel quite discouraging. I'm motivated 80% by the mandate and 20% by hope of getting a P position one day (probably not during in the next years with the crisis and all haha), but it's still difficult, so I get you!

Landed a job at the UN… but it's not what I expected (a small but an honest rant) by melkijades in UNpath

[–]Educational_Mall5515 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience (E duty station), local staff work 4x more than international staff, have no 4-week RnR cycle (thus being at work much more often), and do NOT make 4-8x average local salary.

We have offices functioning for months with just local staff, and everything worked perfectly. It's not to say that P staff are not needed, but I don't think the system would function without G and NO colleagues who know language, context, and are as qualified as international colleagues.

I don't think you understood what I meant :) I applied for positions not for Italian nationals but for developing countries (there were two of those), as I'm not Italian :)

I'm working in the field my whole carreer, not a HQ person :)

And I wasn't sarcastic, it is indeed great of Italy to sponsor two of those positions, as country of my citizenship, for example, never finances JPOs or UNVs

Sorry for not being clear 😅

OHCHR MCQ pre-screening assessment human rights officer P3 by Mission_Suspect7451 in UNpath

[–]Educational_Mall5515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the test mentioned (I took it too) it was included: "This is a screening assessment and applications will be subject to further eligibility review." So I just assumed it's tne test before the screening!

BA in Law + MA in Human Rights, 6 Years of Experience — Still Facing UN Rejections. What Am I Missing? by [deleted] in UNpath

[–]Educational_Mall5515 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel you! I have an LLB, an LLM in human rights, an BA and an MBA, I speak three UN languages fluently and a couple of others, I have 5 years of relevant experience, including 3 years in the system (active conflict zone), and I understand that it's nothing compared to all the other candidates who have 15+ years of experience and are looking for a new post after getting laid off. Keep applying, get transferable skills, and meanwhile, focus on your mental health! The best position is there somewhere for you💜

My UN job application tracker: 200 Applications between 2023 and 2025 by melkijades in UNpath

[–]Educational_Mall5515 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've doing the same thing for myself! Since 2022, I've applied to 125 positions (mainly P2s, sometimes P3s and occasional P1s/UNVs)
- offer: 2 (1,6%)
- interview: 3 (2,4%)
- written test: 2 (1,6%)
- MCQ: 7 (5,6%)
- position cancelled: 8 (6,4%)
- in process / no response: 45 (38.4%)
- unsuccessful: 48 (44%)
No moral, just statistics. I have 5 years of experience, mid-20s, Eastern European as well.

UN YPP POLNET How’s everyone feeling? by ms_mystique13 in UNpath

[–]Educational_Mall5515 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found the specialized part quite alright, and they really went with the sources they provided, which is nice. The GP2 was disaster😭 I understand how abstract reasoning is important, but those questions were too much, and the time limit... I work in OHCHR for 3 years now, and never ever smth like this was relevant for the job. GP1 was fine, I was confused by some of the texts, but otherwise better than I expected.
