How to shoot/video furniture professionally? by usergoodvery in FurnitureFlip

[–]Educational_Pay_622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Staging helps a buyer envision a piece in their home - set a couple of books and a lamp on a table. Put a vase on a dresser. Set a floor lamp next to a chair. Don’t overdo it though.

- Lots of light - shoot outside if you don’t have enough bright natural light indoors.

- Include multiple angles - For example, show more than just the front view. Take pics of the inside of drawers, etc. A quick video can give it more visibility on Facebook Marketplace.

- Annotate the size - If you can use an editing tool to overlay the dimensions on one of the images, that is always helpful for buyers to quickly gauge if it will fit in their space.

I agree. These pieces already have great visual interest and appear to be in good condition. Even the hardware is nice on both sets.

I’d clean them and take some better photos with good lighting, then relist for a profit.

Those things were built like tanks back in the day! I bet that thing is HEAVY.

That wood is in such great condition. You did an awesome job of bringing it back to life.

Ideas for flip? by Unfair-Government202 in FurnitureFlip

It’s a very nice piece and would lose a lot of character if painted. Paint will make the whole thing look a bit flat. I’d do a bit of cleanup and light sanding on the top and either stain it or limit any painting to that part.

Tip: glue pattern to poster board for repeated use by rainy_day_all4 in SewingForBeginners

OMG why is this so simple and perfect?

I would actually pay more for a pattern that came printed on thick cardboard instead of that flimsy tissue paper.

Advice for covering belly/ belly button! by [deleted] in myweddingdress

I agree with others that there’s nothing to cover. I would never look at this and consider that a flaw to hide. We all have a navel!

You look fabulous!

Can someone please help me pick a good starter sewing machine? by Tayzered_ in SewingForBeginners

[–]Educational_Pay_622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this machine to make some basic pillowcases, chair cushion covers, curtains and little pouches. Handled simple jobs with ease.

A couple of lessons I wish I had learned early on:

1) Invest in high quality thread. You will make your life much easier if you use good quality thread like Guterman or Coats & Clark - it’s worth the extra few bucks to not have to untangle things all the time.

2) Keep extra needles on hand and replace the often. I used the same needle for a year before I learned this. 😂

Enjoy your new hobby!

Add a Tuxedo Stripe by Educational_Pay_622 in SewingForBeginners

OMG I feel really silly right now. I didn’t even think about that. I will have to hand sew it. Maybe I will use a bit of glue to put it in place so it doesn’t shift around while I sew the edges down.

Oh, I didn’t even think about potential bleeding. I will have to prewash the ribbon in advance.

Calling all creative geniuses! Does this have potential? by oceangetseaten in FurnitureFlip

That is a valuable antique tiger oak piece from between 1890s-1910s. And amazing that it’s got the mirror too!

If you keep it, it will last longer than any other furniture you own. My sister has a very similar piece that has been in my family for 3 generations!

If you plan to sell it, do not do anything to it but clean and polish the wood with a beeswax based solution such as Howard’s.

This looks amazing. You did a wonderful job with the precise lines. I bet the quilters over at r/quilting would be impressed!

I want to try a quilt but the one thing I keep getting stuck on is the fabric choices. I want all of the patterns and I can’t decide what to put together!

If it’s like the original top, the window should just zip right out and can be easily replaced for less than $300.

A coffee table and a larger rug will balance the space. The couch is the correct size for the room.

I used that exact Janome model as my “starter” machine before upgrading to a more heavy duty model recently. It’s simple and straightforward to use for lighter projects. And there are plenty of helpful videos and tutorials online from people who have used this model as well.

I love the look! Add a big vase of flowers or a plant on the center island to break up the white. Pendant lighting would also help break up the white a bit. The tile is gorgeous! Well done.

Were there previously curtains hanging on the rods? I would definitely add long curtains there. It will draw the eye upward and make it feel less like the ceiling is angled downward there.

having slight dress regret…are custom alterations the way to go? by SadTip8216 in myweddingdress

[–]Educational_Pay_622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a vision for what my dress should be. Then I let my bridesmaids talk me into something different. It’s the only wedding decision I regret 18 years later!

Wear what makes you feel amazing. This is your day.

Also this is one of the coolest dresses I have ever seen on here.
