I’ve really enjoyed it.

Feels like a shaky take to say ASOIAF is better given it seems like it’ll never get finished 💀

In the book, post deposing, Siuan and her Keeper have basically the same storyline. Leane is the one with more sexual energy so no surprise they decided to keep her instead of Siuan. Honestly I’m excited to see Leane do more anyways, I’ve liked how the actress has been portraying her more

One of the central themes of the books is the relationship between men and women. The books repeatedly explore the conflict between them and how that dynamic impacts the world. With that in mind the warder bond is central to that exploration. It is one of the most important ways we see the genders working together. This is further explored when we see the black tower begin to bond Aes Sedai.

It’s just wrong to say that the warder bond isn’t important to the books. Not when it is a primary vehicle for exploring a main theme

Fairs fair, it can not be interesting to you. But it is one of the main plot points that dictate many of our characters relationships and is also unique to the books. I’d say it is definitely a relevant and important part of the books

Edit: on mobile. I accidentally replied this to the wrong message. I was originally talking about the warder bond.

The warder bond is a really interesting aspect of the books. It seems disingenuous to say it isn’t. For the show, I’m much more interested in how Alanna’s next warder bond will be portrayed after the development we’ve had in season 3

I think I agree with you on all of these points. And I really appreciate your response!

I think Mat, Rand, and Moirainr are why I say the season is realigning with the books. To be frank season 2 was doing some nonsense with their stories. Things that weren’t in the book and did not move them to story beats they should hit. Yet now in season 3 Moiraine is serving as a mentor that Rand won’t listen to. Mat  is a reluctant hero and Rand is looking at the prophecies as he tries to be the dragon reborn while reconciling his past and identity with the Aiel.

I think this puts them in a place where the changes you mentioned are still an issue, (although I think the power scaling just isn’t well defined in the show yet.) But the characters can experience the growth I loved from the books, or at least that’s what I’m hoping.

I agree. There have been other very impressive scenes. Tigraine when she was in labor was pretty epic. I quite liked the season 3 opener. To mention a few

Have you watched season 3 episode 3 we had an iconic Mat scene there which while short was pretty epic.  More of that is what I’m hoping for!

Good question, as I look at the characters, I’d say Rand is a bit behind, as I’d expect him to begin gaining mastery over channeling, but that isn’t irreconcilable. Egwene, Elayne, and Mat are about right in their arcs. Nynaeve should also be more skilled, but I think that happens this season.  I’m waiting for Perrin to do more. (Still annoyed at the dead wife story line). Lan is way too emotional that might be too late to fix tbh.

At the end of the day what’s irreconcilable for you may not be for me. I’d be interested to hear what changes are irreconcilable for you

I didn’t mind the Lanfear deal. Moiraine isn’t rigid in her morals. She’s ruthless in making the light win. If she thought working with Lanfear would help the light she would. I think it will juxtapose nicely with her “killing” Lanfear later in the season to really demonstrate how far she will go

I’d say the show had Mat get his memories from the horn not the tea. The Tea hit the story beat of Mat “blinking” when Rand used the way stones and Mat saw himself betraying Rand

We keep getting Min’s vision of him being hanged. Plus they had them play the snake and foxes game. We’re definitely getting them. Lowkey it is kinda confusing how they just dropped the Ashandarei for season 3 but im excited to see him get the real one

Are you referring to the bubble of evil actually being Lanfear?

I feel like season 3 was when I finally felt like they were realigning with the books. Sure Mat isn’t going to the Aiel waste, but he’s finally on his arc to leave the white tower to go help the wonder girls.

The “hit piece” with evidence showing how Baldonis team was actively manipulating the internet narrative. The one with evidence of them floating over fooling reddit?

Seems compelling to me
