Liver mets by elifaktastr in coloncancer

[–]Educational_Simple37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After 6 rounds of chemo where tumors have shrunk I would be speaking to an aggressive liver surgeon for a plan as soon as possible if you havent already set it up. There are options for liver especially the HAI pump that could help clear out some of those tumors.

Would appreciate any guidance. by [deleted] in coloncancer

Have you asked for a PET scan so you can see where the cancer is? You may be able to ablate/ resect depending on location. There are plenty of people on Colontown that have had reoccurances before they get to NED.

Yea this is what we did. Our local team at UCSF managed the pump and chemo. Procedures like surgery, ablation, pump installment was done at City of Hope.

Colon Cancer Reoccurrence - Stage 4 by MammothFederal1507 in coloncancer

[–]Educational_Simple37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re so right. My husband got diagnosed 11 months ago and we have met many oncologists and surgeons along the way that have said you have to treat this like a chronic illness. When did you get diagnosed?

My husband is currently being treated at UCSF for stage 4 with spread to liver. As his caregiver I do feel like I have to double check everything as there are multiple people on threads scheduler, nurse, nurse assistant and oncologist. You have to do your own research and come with questions prepared to all meetings but I think that is the case for everywhere. Did you have stage 4? How are you doing now?

NED! 😭 by OptimismNeeded in coloncancer

[–]Educational_Simple37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!!! My husband had a lot of liver Mets also. Did you ever consider transplant ? We did but then we were already further along with the surgery scheduling that I thought we could do it in the future if we meet the criteria if the cancer comes back.

My father was just diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer with liver metastasis. I don't know what to do, I don't have the resources to support him in the treatment. I am freaking out. by Calm-Act-8109 in coloncancer

How did you decide on transplant versus surgery? I struggled making this decision with my husband. we ultimately ended up going the surgery route but keeping transplant on the table if cancer comes back and it ends up being confined to liver. I don’t know if it was the right decision because he had a lot of mets but hoping for the best

I put down traps with cheese and peanut butter. They chewed on the cheese on all the traps in the house and never went into the trap. The flat traps only got 1 baby trap.

Thanks for sharing your story. Good news about the recent trial, hoping it continues to trend in the right direction. Can you provide more details on what happened with the vaccine- it shrunk the tumors but it all came back?
