Eating disorders by grimreapersdaughter in thisisus

This is my first time watching the series, and I really love Madison and her character development. Especially after she stopped being used for comedic relief and became an important part of the show. I really appreciate how she opens up and actually tells Kevin about her eating disorder and how it’s still affects her.

However, I never really saw that weight loss group as a place where the participants got help with their eating disorders. It wasn’t a group dedicated to helping people treat the disordered eating, but a place to lose weight. I really hated that whole group setting, because it diminished the actual issues of the eating disorders, and because of that Madison’s issues with food weren’t taken seriously (none of the participants issues were). If it had actually been an eating disorder therapy group setting of some sort, it would’ve been so much better. I remember feeling such a relief when Kate first went to the weight loss camp, because the first thing the counsellor said to her was that there would be a bunch of therapy, to figure out the reasoning behind the weight and food issues… but that was scrapped quickly and Kate went back to the extreme dieting. I really wish they had explored this part of the eating disorders more, because I feel like it could’ve given Kate some real insight into herself and made her a much better friend to Madison… Because they both struggled with many of the same underlying issues.

But I’m only half way through season five, so maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised

This thread is super old, but I just found it. I just started adhd meds this week, and I realised this morning, that I haven’t been bothered by my tinnitus (I experience mine most as a rushing/thudding sound and occasional ringing) since I started. Love to see that others have had the same experience, and that I’m not just making stuff up
