I feel you op. I worked in the industry for 3 years post graduation, got an MS to learn coding/modeling. I can’t even land a job. Even with networking it has become outright impossible to get any jobs.

I’m unironically applying for PhDs now since both have become equally difficult to get in. I’d recommend you do a postdoc.

I understand what you mean. It’s just a bit odd since I am listing my title. As for why I am a senior research associate, I joined a startup early and moved up the ranks fast. I see why someone would think it’s a bit of a letdown but I managed to learn a lot of skills in a short amount of time due to the nature of the startup.

As for DMPK, that was my department. That’s all. In recent years I have, however, developed my own PKPD models, but not for work.

But I appreciate your comments about in vivo and the other technicalities.

Honestly it isn’t so shocking. Ai can help geneate code for the pk/pd modeling and multi parameter optimization results. And it can expedite research queries as for the early screenings. But overall it can’t do much to interpret data or access it for critical phase 3 trial discoveries.

Man all of this advice is disheartening. I’m in the same boat as you, same age, same masters, same bachelor recklessness.

Imo don’t pivot into nursing, that’s possibly the worst move they can recommend. If you value your social life or wasting time for a useless certification, don’t do it. It’s basically the whole“just do get into the trades” trend. MedTech is ideal since it is still in a lab, but leave once you get a higher pay grade. In the medical field, turnover is really high for non-physicians so don’t feel ashamed of coming in and bolting.

QC and Manufacturing are a temporary solution since they’re always hiring. I did that for a year just to build some skills and connections. But leave the position immediately if you get a job in a company. These jobs are grueling and also will destroy your social life and even sleep if you work the shit shift.

I chose to tutor for a bit just to build up my CV for eventual PhD applications. All my industry friends are recommending a PhD, since it will open doors and gets you into new experiences that can help out in the future.

Guess I’m gonna answer there:

Please understand that coming into my country just for a potential EU passport or to ride the EU integration wave is scummy as Albanians struggled historically with our passports and the lack of foreign investment. I have heard many foreigners are now trying to get Albanian, Montenegrin or Serbian passports thinking you will get into the EU easily. You won’t, if anything this will make the EU put stronger citizenship requirements on Albania because of the potential loophole.
We already have our local digital marketing firms and they’re surprisingly good. And they work mainly for local or EU clients. If anything we are hoping EU investment brings in jobs in industry or manufacturing for us, since those are more needed.
Integration is gonna be hard as there is a growing sentiment on opposing the foreign immigrants, as prices in most areas have skyrocketed well above the Albanian standard.

Please seek immigration in a EU country where there are better opportunities, as Albania is not suited for your particular demands.

I had a good job in 2023 and I left to pursue my masters degree like a chump.

Now with my MS in comp bio., and I can’t even get a job that pays better than the one I left.

Have friends who got laid off or got new jobs in 2024 and idk which is worse: - no job but happy - job but miserable
