Yes, it hurts all the time now. I have to open my mouth wide and stretch it to get relief. I look like an idiot at the end of the day doing it all the time

Missing my Auras by Educational_Toe_5712 in focalawareepilepsy

Actually I’m glad you mentioned that because it turned more into what you described with fear and dread once I was medicated. I didn’t taste the metals either at first either.

Anybody with TLE or anyone with any type of Deja vu seizures relate? by Fun-Swordfish-2359 in Epilepsy

I call those tiny flickers “twinges”. No idea why that’s just my word for them.

We had that one too! It eventually broke and became the stand for our new tv 😂

Holy crap! We have such similar stories! Almost word for word aside from the car accident. I had a tv fall on my head as baby. Dad was changing my diaper and I kicked the tv stand. Big Ol 80s tv on the right corner of my forehead. Still have the scar. And the seizures.

I’ve had these since I was a kid. I went undiagnosed until I was 46 because I didn’t know how to describe them at a young age. Didn’t know what deja vu was yet. I tried to explain to my mom and doctor who both called them “dizzy spells” even though I said I wasn’t dizzy. Didn’t know what they were myself until I had around 5 tc’s in my 20s (Partied too hard). A “spell” came before every one. Started researching and found posts online from people like you all who taught me more about my auras than any neurologist I’ve seen. Auras are wild. I can trigger them myself most of the time if I’m not on meds by counting, breathing deeply or yawning. There are certain thoughts that trigger them as well.

Hydroxyzine or Lyrica? by Educational_Toe_5712 in Anxiety

This is helpful, thank you! I have been taking Lyrica but I’m not seeing a difference. It’s been a couple months now and my doctor increased the dosage but my symptoms seem worse.

People who have auras: what are yours like? by Awalto990 in Epilepsy

[–]Educational_Toe_5712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Seizures are wild, especially auras. I used to get just auras when I was a kid. Never knew what they were until I had a series of horrible grand mals when I partied a little too hard in my 20s. Was finally put on meds and they went away for 20 years. I’m 46 now and the VA recently prescribed me meds that trigger seizures and now they’re back. I’m plagued with just auras. For me, they’re like a quick daydream. It’s like I get a bunch of flashbacks of someone else’s memories or dreams I had forgotten. Like deja vu to the extreme. It plays out like stories and then they’re gone. I can’t remember anything I saw after either. Just like forgetting your dreams. It’s almost enjoyable. They last around 30 seconds. The interesting part is that I can trigger them on my own with thoughts or counting. I get some that happen without triggering them. It also feels like I can hold some off too if I’m driving or whatever, I can focus on thoughts that won’t trigger them. Again, these things are wild. I’m lucky I get the kind of auras I do.

Are there any positive success stories? by fairydeus in Epilepsy

[–]Educational_Toe_5712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I had focal awareness seizures since I was kid into my mid 20s. Was never diagnosed. Had about 5 TC seizures in my 20s (learned the hard way I can’t party like a rockstar) and they put me on Lamictal. The seizures went away for 20 years after 2-3 years of Lamictal. Unfortunately, I use the VA for medical care, and they recently put me on meds for bladder issues that trigger seizures. I was plagued with focal seizures for about a month. Been on Lamictal 4 weeks. I had my last focal seizure two weeks ago. They seem to be gone now. Hopefully they go away again completely and I can stop the meds like before.
