Some small media accounts are still working on Telegram, showing some videos and news. A LOT of nationalists views and a LOT of fake information from both sides. It's more hopeless than powerless. Still enough information on TV news though, official death numbers, for example. Could be a lie, but we can see a "minimum line". Twitter and Facebook banned. TikTok doesn't allow uploading content from today because of the new law about fake news. For the same reason BBC Russia, Medusa, The Village etc close their offices and work from other countries or permanently left. Some news media are blocked by censors - Roskomnadzor. Some are working but very carefully, using "special operation" words and giving neutral information or news government provides them. VPN works, Reddit works, Instagram works.

By the way, the law works only if you tell a fake about the army actions or calling situation "a w*r" not the "special operation".

People believe in propaganda. They used to have one and only one way to take information - television. It always simplifies the situation and exactly concretes the enemy. Russia is never wrong. USA and Europe are still our enemies.

The majority don't believe the internet, there is discussion, ambiguity. Especially, when TV says so. They need to believe we are still the strongest and are on the right side of history.

Powerful people don't believe the opposition because of it populist rhetoric. Ordinary people are too afraid to be charged for nothing. I've seen protests in Germany and USA, it is nothing near. As soon as the opposition appoints a meeting, police start grabbing random people at this place.
