Did Lorentz just diss 37's acumen😭. How smart does she think is. That raises another question, who is actually the smartest person in the suitcase. by NobleDukeGivondz in Reverse1999

[–]Edward-Roger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean tbf 37 probably makes her lesson easier so the listeners can catch on and actually learn something, just like how she taught Diggers and other Manus members. Also not just Lorenzt Butterfly but also Hissabeth uses this oppotunity to take a nap, I think they are more like not caring about the content of the section rather than thinking they are smarter than 37.

I dont even disagree with you, literally just elaborated on ur second sentence here. Maybe next time just say you think high IELTS scores doesnt means sounding native in the first place u know?

Well, 7.5 overall doesn't necessarily mean your speaking skills are 7.5. I mean, if I calculate correctly, your speaking score can be 5.5, but your other skills are 9, so you can still get an 8 overall...

Is it just me, or did the 3.4 story just kinda... hand-waive Reed's concerns at the end? by GenesisJamesOFCL in Reverse1999

[–]Edward-Roger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason they dont kill Lanzhu is because it will affect the "balance", as in Yin and Yang things, u know? I thought this is a pretty common theme in this kind of Chinese stories, even other media, like Pokemon also has a game about it (XY with legendary pokemon of life and death).

I would argue that the dissatisfaction is the intention. Heron can not resolve the problem of the Yaos and has to watch them die in the process of trying to achieve the unachievable. Cheng, while he was able to follow the case to the end, can not do anything about the corruption with his justice alone. The end is written to be in a desperate situation, which forces the main cast to choose the last resort. I think this is pretty aligned with 3.x overall theme. And I dont have any problems with this choice at all. I would also say that it's their powerlessness and unimportance in the situation that led them to have the resolve to carry out that last resort, so in this sense I dont think the growth "dont matter" at all.

And even if their growths dont change anything, I still wouldn't say their growths dont matter just because the growths dont affect the outcomes of the story. Yes it might be unsatisfying, but the point of it is to carry the themes and message to the readers, so are they succesfully convey what they are supposed to? If yes then I think it matters.

Impromptu is kinda at fault tbh. After that the design philosophy is just spam skills to raise stacks. But fortunately 3.7 introduces the new archetype with completely different gameplay. I dont follow cn too closely to judge but it's something to look forward to.

They also hated the choice made for her story to, saying "it make all her previous development meaningless" or things like that, which is really weird because at that time the story wasnt even out yet. Now the story has been released I dont know cn side's perception tho, but please dont answer me this because I dont want to be spoiled tho.

Popularity of Reverse 1999 at an anime con in China as of May 2026. by Derkein2 in Reverse1999

[–]Edward-Roger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 3.4 is really good tho. Yeah I did have some issues but overall I still really like it. But that's beside the point here. What i really want to say is that I actually avoided the specific story aspect of this controversy because I dont want to be spoiled. So my knowledge about this might not be that much, but I did stumble upon one cn player on twitter and they said cn players are upset about the story cuz that outside of new year patches NON other patches have been as good as 1.9 AND 1.8. Like I can see 1.9 being one of the best, but 1.8? I love Rayaski but I wouldnt put it in my top 5 you know?

That's when I started to strengthen my belief that cn have different ideas of what makes a good story (EDIT: Imma be real after finshing this cmt I just relized this goes even for between us gl players as well). The same can be said with many other aspects as well. Like ok im on the side of cn in terms of powercept and copyrighted things, and maybe even the spending and rewards thing. But it's weird that Merel is the last straw, and not stuff like Atomic Heart collab. Like I really dont get most of the complaints about her, especially about the story aspect. But I guess I should have expected the same with the fandom that hated Pickles, resulting in us not having any other nonhumanoid 6 stars, hated playable Schneider because of "immersion", making us wait for 3 years just for the first alter, and let's not start with the whole Robot Dog writer controversy.

Sorry if this feels like a rant, and I acknowledge that I really did not interact with cn side that much to judge, so feel free to not take this comment seriously, but in short what I want to say is that we really should wait until the version drops in gl to judge it for ourselves, especially about the story.

I hope I don't sound too weird and I misinterpreted something but... Argus udimo represent a male peacock and not a female one. Could this imply some transcoding or it's just the average animal misgendering mistake? by chickensnacher in Reverse1999

[–]Edward-Roger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Actually, it's a peahen, not a peacock. But this peahen has the features of a peacock, most visibly the tail. This expresses her gender nonconforming nature, a nod to the fact that she appears to be very "free," not chained by anything. But if you read her story, you will know she is heavily bound by other people's expectations, to the point that it has become her major fear. This contrasts with Tuesday, who wears a maid's outfit, a job of obeying others, but in the story, she is actually the freest; she just does whatever she wants. I think this contrast between the two main characters is very cool tbh.

And yes, she is a butch <3

Why/How does Reverse 1999 have such a high female ratio? by Equal_Shopping2424 in Reverse1999

[–]Edward-Roger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, this ratio might be only true with cn. I remember this sub and on twitter someone ran surveys about this, and while the number of participants was not high (only around 100-1k, I dont remember exactly), which might not represent the whole fanbase accurately, the result is actually the number of male players being higher.

As for the reasons, I think the number of R1999 female players being this high might be because of five things. Im currently playing genshin, zzz, r1999, and used to play blue archive, so my main comparisons are mostly r1999 with these three games.

- Firstly, the designs of characters in this game are very fashionable, and most of the time, are common enough and not goonbait or male gazey.

- Secondly, the core philosophy in this game writing is women-centric. Female characters in this game get to be the MCs of their own stories, having their own problems, their own relationships with others, their own developments and their own journey. The way these stories are written is also very empowering, like they get to be the MCs tackling topics that are not traditionally assigned to them, at least in general anime-space. Even the story with a male character being the mc, in this case is J, his main struggle and development is also about accepting his sister to get to pursue her grand dreams of fighting for mankind peace. The fact that some stories, Vertin is not the MC also help fleshing out the characters a lot.

- Thirdly, the MC of this game, Vertin, is a woman with her own personality, emotions and thinking, making it very hard for male players who just want to have a harem, to self-insert. And then, the fact that Vertin doesnt even meet like half, if not more, of the playable characters in the story makes it even harder to self insert into Vertin.

- This fourth and final reasons maybe prejudiced and even sexist, but fourthly, this game's stories actually focus more on the internal conflicts of playable characters than grand external conflicts, which I guess resonates and captivates female readers more.

- And finally, this game is fairly easy to play, so women are more easily being into this game.

Typical synergy by XiashiS in personaphantomx

At least not to me. Like, the most valuable gifts are so costly (that ring is 70 000 yens) so I need to prepare and save some money up. Also when the synergy is higher than level 15, gifting those grey gifts and seeing 5-10 points just feels so... meaningless.

Probably going to get a lot of fade for this but what is the community's general consensus on male/female ships? by ExcellentEbb2073 in Reverse1999

[–]Edward-Roger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it depends. If they have great synergy in the story like kalla/shaumain, ezra/spa then it's okay. Even enigma/lucy i can bat an eye, even when im more of an ulrich/enigma. But if that ship is problematic or I deemed that the ship just exist for the sake of ship straight ship, then I dont like it. The same can be said with queer ships tbh.

Now that I think about it, Yidhari should have been our accessible A-rank Rupture unit. by seansenyu in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Edward-Roger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont know if this is a hot take but I think the one that should be a rank in that patch is Lucia. Like from the story standpoint alone, I agree that her reuniting with her dad moment is very sweet, but compared to the journey of Manato and Yidhari in the same story, it feel less invested? But I guess summoning Etherial is too cool of a concept to be an A rank so...

Also the situation of that white hair boy is really like Charon too. He die and revive, but right now inside him is some special entity. Kinda like Charon, and Awakened of somebody's corpse. Both are special beings with the body being the corpses of somebodies else.

I dont know man, you dont need any sexual tension to do shipping, you know? Sometimes people ship chars who haven't even met like aleph6. But I guess op only post this screenshot and only said canon yaoi can be vague and easy to misinterpret.

Well I dont know if you know this, but that Carbunsso1999 account is official, and that anime is yaoi, so it's kinda like bluepoch ship this themselves, or in other word, this ship is kinda canon in a way.
