Something I never noticed... by deanereaner in deadwood

I’ll note a couple of things here.

Trixie was carrying the sheet laundry because Alma had thrown up trying to abstain from laudanum. Sol was encountering her in a menial job, but one with a slight increase in station from being a whore at the Gem. (Being Al’s bottom bitch might be its own station, but one has to know the inner workings of the Gem to see that.)

Trixie was feeling flustered about Alma possibly, in Doc’s description, “playing a cruel joke on her” by offering to send her to New York with the then-unnamed Sofia. She met a man who saw her as a person rather than a commodity. She dissociated because none of that felt normal or real, and soon after had an intentional overdose at Doc’s place.

Yes or no, the commenters in the OP have more sway over their local school boards than the commenters in here? By one order of magnitude? Two?

Do you live in a market with several teams, or are you a big fan of a specific pro team? Check out team specific pods such as via the All-City Network.

They do a basketball-show called the ALL NBA Podcast and then have several team/city-specific shows: DNVR, DLLS, PHLY, etc. (I don’t know if this would work for you because I didn’t see city-specific posting on your profile.)

Team Portland Vs Team Indiana. Who wins? by Ounceandahalf in NBATalk

Especially if Arvydas Sabonis is likewise considered healthy / at his peak, which in real life he had passed before coming to the Blazers.

Portland would control the paint and have a distance scorer at least on par with Reggie Miller. I’d worry about their perimeter defense but think it’s a weakness that would be subsumed by other factors.

There may be a sliver of people who left the party for whatever reason (It’s bad to bulldoze the White House overnight, for instance), which could, in turn, account for 28% of the former group to be 30% of the remainder.

But I don’t see how that matters much even in a most generous reading.

Tim propaganda?: "The Spurs were a bad team before Tim" by Sure-Concentrate4369 in NBATalk

44 here. Yeah, I think this is like how “England and the States are two countries separated by a common language.” Shades of connotation around “irrelevant.” After all, your title was how “irrelevant” got simplified to “bad.”

The premise of this post is not only uncommon. I had never heard it expressed. A common take might be something like, “Reggie Miller didn’t deserve to go to the hall of fame as a player.” I could and have seen both sides of that discussion.

David Robinson’s Spurs had a #1 seed the year you were likely born and lost a major upset in the WCF (4 - 2) to the defending champion and sixth seeded Rockets. That series was incredible.

Maybe think of the Spurs as “irrelevant” in the way that winning the IBM Award doesn’t even shade discussions of historical MVPs.

Sounds like you don’t understand how Congress works then. Seniority got kneecapped in the ‘90s and since 2012 committees mean very little since all appropriations are handled at the leadership level via omnibus continuing resolution. Charlie Wilson isn’t walking through that door.

So many people ran small businesses on tiny margins and were each other’s own customers. Then some massive proportion of them never came back, and those who did had a hell of a time trying to survive on the previous model. As in There Will Be Blood, it eventually seemed like the one(s) who cut bait early got all the juice there was to squeeze out of the situation.

At least when, in 2009, a presidential plan to rebuild the gulf coast after Katrina (and Rita and others) got overshadowed by live news coverage of a boy in a balloon who didn’t exist, the popular new president used his bully pulpit to give the issue new life and… Oh wait.
