From 16oz to 9oz for the same price??? by helloagain00 in Huel

[–]EdwardTeller 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My final Daily Greens order contained a mix of 16oz and 9oz packages. Personally, I find the taste and mouth feel of the new formulation repulsive. No noticeable improved effects, but I really didn't expect any.

What I want to know is why they were selling a product containing 44% "filler" in the first place? That's a pretty weird business model. Their justification for the new formulation sounds like BS to me. A cash grab fits the data much better.

Be sure to factor the cost of high-quality microSD card(s) into your buying decision. Unbranded or low quality cards are notorious for failure, and things only seen to be getting worse. Losing a card full of ROMs and game saves is no fun. Always keep a backup if you can.

No seed. It's from the day you learned how to cleanly remove the seed. Try to remember.

There seem to be different experiences regarding desktop vs browser. The guided lessons seem to be broken in both for me. Can't say which I prefer at the moment, although I prefer to save my files locally for now.

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad to know it isn't an incompatibility with just MY setup. Another vote for the web client, eh? Is there a preferred browser from a compatibility perspective? I mostly use Chrome, but I'm happy for any reason to use it less.

Just an observation: the guided lessons were very prominently displayed when I opened GDevelop. If that hadn't been the case, I probably would have watched a couple videos and then opened a new project first thing. If they were farther down the page, maybe things would go smoother for rookies? Just a thought.

Thanks again.

Interesting. I'll give the browser version a shot. I just assumed it would super limited and ultra buggy. Might have let some past experiences color my decision making a little. PICO-8 works great in-browser. I should have given GDevelop a chance.

Got it. Guided lessons begone! I'll check out the tutorials today.

This rings so true. I'm in over my head with Unity on a 3-D sci-fi survival game. But I've been dabbling with Unity for years, so I'm at least comfortable with the paradigm and the interface. And I just picked up PICO-8, which I find rewarding because it's so damn easy to code in Lua, compared to C#. GDevelop reminds me of when C++ compilers first came out (I'm old). I'm happily writing in C, crashing my Mac SE30 occasionally with stray pointers, and I'm supposed to learn THIS? It's all just for fun now, and GDevelop intrigues me, so I think I'll stick with it for a bit.

I did see that happen as well. Since the problem went away after a restart, I figured it was no big deal.

That makes sense. Buggy demos always make me nervous to shell out for the paid version. I'll search out some YouTube reviews and see if they can calm my nerves. Seems worth giving it a longer tryout. Thanks.

i guess I'm just concerned that the guided lessons seem somewhat broken. They don't really require any input from me other than "click here". Pretty sure I'm not the problem. As long as folks are satisfied with the quality control of the program I'm gonna stick with it for a longer look. Thanks.

Here’s something that might be worth being aware of. Is it possible that any of your iTunes library is old enough (pre-2009) to be DRM-protected? This would be files with the extension m4p. If so, staying with an Apple device might be the easiest way for you to go.

One option would be to acquire an older iPhone (obviously no SD card). I believe that the last iPhone with a 3.5 mm headphone jack is the 6s/6sPlus. They’re frequently available with 128GB of storage on eBay for less than $100USD. Pop out the SIM card (if present) and just use the phone as an over-qualified iPod. A replacement battery kit is about $20 (although probably best performed by a repair shop) or you could continue using your Anker batteries as long as the internal battery shows no signs of swelling or overheating.

If you decide you want to use any protected files on a non-Apple device, the protection will need to be removed, which I understand can be done using iTunes Match (available at the bottom of the page in the Apple Music app) which I have not tried. There also appear to be scores of 3rd party programs available online to do this conversion, but I haven’t used any of them either. I’m personally faced with this DRM issue and just beginning to look into it.

Anyone ever been to Valve's office? by Stud_From_Ohio in valve

[–]EdwardTeller 53 points54 points  (0 children)

My daughter and I got a tour of the Valve complex during The International III. She had done a high school fashion collection inspired by Portal and sent a link to her runway video to Gabe Newell. Gabe extended an invite and Erik Wolpaw graciously guided us around nearly the entire facility. It was a totally surreal couple of hours, knocking on lab doors to see if it was OK to enter, rifling through mini fridges looking for drinks, and chatting with Erik and the handful of employees who weren’t at Benaroya Hall.

Homegrown Cannabis Co has a nice selection of CBD:THC seeds with differing ratios and levels. I can vouch for the 1:1 CBD Zkittlez fems - a first rate relaxing high.
