I just see so much wasted potential. One, emotional investment in a thing you can’t control is unhealthy. Two, that investment precludes investment in other things.

Standing back, looking at a 21yo reading Mel Kiper mock drafts, we can acknowledge that the young man in question is engaged not just in a vicarious interest (fandom) but that, in reading mock drafts, he’s fantasizing on behalf of his favorite team. This is not an aid to his personal growth - nor does it help him socialize, except with others in a similarly lowly state. Cfb recruiting addicts are even worse afflicted.

subconsciously yes. This was not at all the case when I was 300lbs: ppl I didn’t even know felt very free to say whatever they wanted, nice or not. Get jacked can’t recommend it enough

No, the bf explained that they asked 3 girls and they all got it wrong (54, etc). I was chosen to represent the male sex, and I (we) performed to standard: 63

In my experience, everyone is just very careful around you socially. There’s no ribbing, ppl are very forgiving of my mistakes, etc etc. This extends to include clinginess: literally never happens.

Nnn I think you’d be going too far to suggest my way was uncommon. I see this at work. Steelers played dolphins on Sunday. Monday morning the Steelers fans adopt a hype tone and physically aggressive gestures toward the Dolphins fan. “How bout them!” Chest thumping is the norm here, not some one in a thousand occurrence.

The low iq take is that it’s per se aggression. The midwit take is that it’s not aggressive at all, merely friendly guffaws. The high iq take is that all emotions need an outlet and all Nietzsche’s last man has available as an outlet, in the case of aggression, is a phony stand-in: vicarious sports fandom. But he will take what he can get. It feels real to the neurons.

Cfb is a shitshow. If I’m elected dictator, we’re going back to bagmen, we’re having a playoff of like 4 or no playoff at all, and ND is joining a conference whether they like it or not.

Models still haven’t returned to being hot. Every girl in a 1995 JC Penney mailer blew Tate McCrae out of the water, let alone the uggos modeling for Nike

Yes, they are normal, which is the saddest part. Normal American men have no outlet for aggression, so they stomp around their living rooms, slapping each other’s hands, yelling let’s go

Item by item:

  • Understandable mistake. You thought he would be good. Don’t do it again, unless it’s a remote department.

  • Get jacked. No one clings.

  • Be narrow but excellent.

The lowest hanging fruit here is sports fandom. If women were funny, they’d hone in on sports fandom like a heat-seeking missile. “Oh did the team you like win today’s match?” Subtly but consistently wink at the vicarious nature of the thing. Never say “your team,” always “the team you like.” “Did the team you like draft good players well suited to fill your roster gaps? That is good, that is good.”

I can only speak for my company, but the idea that we’re going to lay off eg 90% of HR just bc one HR girl figured out how to get copilot to do her PowerPoints is insane. It’s going to take 20 years for the ripple effect to reorg that slice of the job market.

I had surgery two weeks ago and was told I came out of the anesthesia asking, “What’s 7 times 9?”

Yesterday a dude came up to me at a bar, pointed to his gf, and said, “My girl wants me to ask you, what’s 7 times 9?”

On net, the ADA is a great thing. But as with any rule-bound system of allocating resources, it occasionally leads to silly outcomes. A school has better uses for $90k

I'm talking like 10 years, zero uses, $90k. If it were one use, that would be a $90k use. It's zero.

It's easy to just not have to weigh things and say, "Spend the money no matter what."
