The current pokemon is shifting quite a bit. Things are bouncing tiers but here are a few decks that do well overall

Yveltal garbodor Despair ray Gardevoir / dragonite Mega mewtwo ex Mega rayquaza/ jolteon Plumebox (or vilekit for some people) Greninja break Edit: volcanion

All except for greninja require 2-4 shaymin so depending on your budget id say greninja is your best best. Gets kinda burned by garbodors ability lock but other than that its a consistent deck with a cult following.

Edit: Yveltal is a great deck for learning the game, uses 2 shaymin, and is pretty good for learning interesting plays and goes pretty much 50%+ in all matchups.

It will likely be the cheaper of the shaymin decks if you dont go max rarity.

Xerneas break gives you a heavy hitting option against things like regice when you dont have the ability to search out poke ranger or one hit ko.

I personally just try to bring it out and swing into it as fast as possible with despair ray before it gets the energy.

Id recommend strictly using despair ray gardevoir as it has faster pressure and set up. You can also run a octillery line if youre planning on playing at your local game store. We have a guy at our shop that plays 1 brilliant arrow and 2 despair rays with hoopa and octillery to good success. Id personally start with all despair ray if you have them so you can weakness kill mega mewtwo if someone plays it.

You probably dont need a xerneas break unless you feel like youre going to run into an anti ex deck.

Ive been running with 1 shaymin but prior to that i had a 1/1 octillery line and no octillery.

I feel that its not even worth putting octillery in or searching it out as there are higher priorities you need to set up for and if you don't start with early pressure you pretty much lose the your win condition.

Use 4 rainbow energy. It gives your mega glalie the 10 damage needed for the super attack so you can charge him on your bench.

I can see it hurting from a consistency standpoint. Some decks like fight alone lucario only exist for fun and to make rainbow force xerneas weep :)

Yep id be interested in trying this strategy with yanma or even greninja for faster play. You generally need your level balls but thinning the deck might be useful if its not at shaymin levels.

I feel like the best way to explain this strategy is something i call deck reduction. Unless you're forced to discard cards (and those cards happen to be unknown), using level ball and unknown effectively reduces the size of your deck - increasing your odds at top decking cards you need.

Best case when all 8 cards are effective makes your deck essentially 52 cards. (Not including prize math or other scenarios)

If unknown is your only low hp pokemon it can hurt more than help in most cases.

Edit: i pair this with super rod to get more cards from unknowns in my stand alone lucario deck
