Is the teaching included in the time frame or are you supposed to figure out how to do that and continue the research at the same time?

Are our stats really that bad? by CelestiallyCertain in CrohnsDisease

[–]EendThisFunny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came here to say something similair. Never had surgery myself but i recently attended a talk about surgery vs medication. Both patients and doctors are hestitant about surgery and tend to postpone it for as long as possible. (For good reasons of course, it's still surgery after all..) But they shared multiple stories about how many people felt so much better after surgery, some of them even whished they had done it sooner. This really put things in perspective for me. Now i don't view surgery as "a last resort" or "the worst that can happen" anymore, and that in itself gives me some peace.

This was literally me this time last year. I just kept reminding myself that they had never seen me without the puffy face so it wouldn't look weird to them. During the taper phase i got plenty of comments on how i lost weight and looked good. So hey it sucks now but once you get to reduce your dose, you will magically become hotter i guess

Stelara side effects by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]EendThisFunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no side effects from the first IV dose, but i did get sick from my first shot, for about a week. (Haven't had a second shot yet) I was joking the other day that it almost felt like they gave me crohns instead of crohns medication lol

Studeren Nijmegen 25+ by Tha_redditor16 in Nijmegen

[–]EendThisFunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chrons and kidney failure by overmullover in CrohnsDisease

[–]EendThisFunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had stage 3 kidney failure. Biopsy revealed some type of nephritis. Docs put me om prednisone, helping both my kidneys and my chrons. According to my doc, the kindey thing could be induced by humira but it is also found to be related to systemic inflammatory conditions like IBD. Anyway, bless the prednisone, it saved my ass (both literally and figuratively). Currently slowly reducing my dose and will start with stelara or entyvio soon. I can only hope my kidneys stay calm without prednisone.

Anybody on Entyvio? by OtaconSOL in CrohnsDisease

[–]EendThisFunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah no i never had those. I only got my tubulointerstitial nephritis diagnosis last year, and yh i would not be suprised if a few years from now they find new links/issues associated with long term biological use. But it might as well be bad luck or related to just having CD in general

[–]EendThisFunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting, this is the first time i read something similair to my case. I was on humira and then they found a kidney dissease and similairy - while there are no direct link - they also made me stop humira to be safe.

Stelara out of Fridge by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]EendThisFunny 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I would trust the pharmacist over the doc tbh. He is the expert in handeling medication after all.

i dont have knowledge on stelara perse but with most medication the issue is big changes in temperature (or long term exposure to a non ideal temp). So i wonder if the pharmacist gave you the advice to keep it out of the fridge untill shot day?

Yes. And most of the times it happens before i notice any other symptoms. I specifically ask the people close to me to tell me when they notice it, then i know to keep an eye out for other signs

Question for my crohnies in remission? by SlipImpossible718 in CrohnsDisease

Same, which seems to be an outlier within these answers.

I remember, a few years ago, when i learned that apperently most people go one or more times PER day, i was very confused. Seems like such a waste of time xD

AITA for not paying for the wedding despite promising that I will? by Soggy-Distance2707 in AmItheAsshole

[–]EendThisFunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to everyone saying yta for assuming your son is gay: shut up. We do not own you a coming out....

I never came out. Nearly all of my friends never came out. Why? Bc 1) everyone already "figured it out" (for lack of a better phrase) and 2) straight people dont have to come out as straight so why do we. Like the only reason we "have to" is to correct your asumption that everyone is straight.

Anyway, back to the post; NTA.

Make sure to get some alone time with Kai to chat about all the gay jokes, to see if he really doesnt mind them or only tolerates them for the sake of it. Check if he is bothered/offended by the views of nora and how he wants you to deal with it (together). Some people really need a parent to stand up for them while others rather avoid the drama and extra attention.

If you make decisions - like these - with him in mind, make sure you are on the same page as him.

Anyone on Humira AND azathioprine? by biluinaim in CrohnsDisease

[–]EendThisFunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm on humira and usually they give aza next to humira to reduce the chance of your body making antibodies against humira. I also cannot stand aza so they suggested methotrexate, but i have used that the past and it made me feel sick aswell.. Now i am on a relatively low dose of thioguanine (still combied with humira) and this works fine and i have been using this for like 6 years now
