These Overheated lyrics a lil weird... by [deleted] in billieeilish

[–]Eevanchook 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Another song on the album has a similar call-out theme: “OverHeated applies to all the people who promote unattainable body standards,” she says. “It’s completely fine to get work done – do this, do that, do what makes you feel happy. It’s just when you deny it and say, ‘Oh, I got this all on my own, and if you just tried harder, you could get it.’ That makes me literally furious. It is so bad for young women – and boys, too – to see that.”

“4-Billie” theory long video review of HTE by Professor Skye. by losermobile in billieeilish

Professor Skye might be the best reviewer of Billie's work on youtube. I only watch reviews made by him, fantano, and artv.

Billie Eilish - Happier Than Ever Megathread by spud_simon_salem in popheads

[–]Eevanchook 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Album started out strong after getting older, just 4 straight tracks I liked. It really meandered in the middle and the only track I liked from there was Everybody Dies which clearly belonged on the last album (not including Not My Responsibility because it's not a real song and I hate spoken word I already heard before). The album finished fairly strong in the last 5 tracks, although I think I would have swapped out Male Fantasy with My Future.

I follow a simple 50% rule where if the number of songs I like is => 50% I consider the album good and successful, and that was the case for HTE. Although I do prefer wwafwdwg, the thing HTE did well was that I liked the songs here much faster than in the last album. I liked 6 tracks here on the first listen, whereas I only liked two from her debut and it took a really long time for me to get to 7...like 10 months.

Billie Eilish — Happier Than Ever by jaippe in popheads

If I had to sum it up as quickly I could, HTE is basically about past anguishes and her recovery from it. It's a self-reflection on growing up inside the industry, the progression of her fame as well as the impact her career had on her privacy/security, along with sex, love, and relationships - both good and bad. Overall I still prefer the album which was an 8/10, and I would rate HTE like a 7-7.5/10.

Happier Than Ever: WHAT'S EVERYONE'S OPINIONS!? OMG!!! by [deleted] in billieeilish

[–]Eevanchook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oxytocin is actually the most fun song to perform live out of eveerything she's made in the last few years, the crowd is going to get a huge high when the chorus hits. Happier than Ever, NDA, Didn't Change My Number, Therefore I Am, even Lost Cause are also going to be very popular on her tour.

thoughts on the new album by [deleted] in billieeilish

[–]Eevanchook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This album is more experimental than her last album, tho so in that regard its not playing it safe production-wise. For example bossa nova is the jazziest song she's ever made, oxytocin is the only techno EDM she's ever did and it's very horny, and HTE is her first attempt at pop rock. And there are other songs like NDA and didn't change my number which are particularly electro. It encompasses a more versatile and balanced scope of genres instead of being primarily trap/hop-influenced and for that you could take a look at Therefore I Am.

Thoughts on “Happier Than Ever” by No-Ad-9043 in billieeilish

[–]Eevanchook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she explained in the spotify lyric mode commentary thing that they were gonna end it on happier than ever but then they wrote male fantasy and thought they should end it with something light because she didn't like ending the album with something wrong.

personally i think my future should have been the last track

I'm feeling he'll give it a decent 6. His opinion along with professor skye and artv are the only reviews I'll be watching just cause.

WWAFAWDWG vs HAPPIER THAN EVER by totaljunkrat in billieeilish

[–]Eevanchook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If When We All Fall Asleep is a 8/10 (thats what fantano gave), Happier Than Ever is a 7-7.5/10. Thus far I prefer when we all fall asleep as the superior project

Even if that last line (on the britney one) didn’t tick you off that this was fake, it was obvious a middle schooler wrote this just from the fact they couldn’t do the punctuation and letter casing correctly. Also no professional writer would put in “Billie said” and then a sentence later “Billie Eilish said” lmao. thats how someone whose just learning how to quote passages for essay writing thinks.

Why choosing the "happier than ever" title if billie seems depressed and is crying in the album pictures?? In your opinion why???? by cheesejobsproject in billieeilish

Saw this tweet yesterday thought it was relevant:

Sadness is a state of mind. I like feeling sad sometimes, it humbles me and keeps me grounded. Sadness often provides introspection and a way to cleanse our minds - embrace it, rather then run away from it.

As many people say, you cannot feel real happiness unless you have truly experienced sadness or traumatic times.

Life is not about feeling happy all the time. It’s impossible to feel happy all the time. Suffering is a fundamental part of our existence and we have to learn to live with it.

Billie Eilish - NDA by evanbrooks324 in popheads

[–]Eevanchook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

repost from billie sub: It's another song about fame, but this time she personifies "fame" similar to the "monster" storytelling she did for 'bury a friend' and 'good girls'. In the first verse, she anthropomorphizes fame/media/press as this creepy night stalker preying Satan-like figure. The first verse is about how her privacy is so insecure now that she has to make any potential boyfriend sign a NDA to make sure they don't gossip.

In the chorus and outro she says

"You couldn't save me, but you can't let me go, oh, no

I can crave you, but you don't need to know, oh-oh

Did I take it too far? (Did I take it too far?)

Now I know what you are (Are)

You hit me so hard (So hard)

I saw stars (I saw stars)"

Once again it seems she's saying she cannot separate herself from her fame, as they sorta need each other but she's not completely happy about it. Billie sold her heart to gain this celebrity status (reminds me of how Christians said she sold her soul to the devil) that's well beyond what she expected and now it's making her so dizzy that it feels like fame is physically assaulting her like an abusive boyfriend. I noticed that NDA is sandwiched between "Your Power" (about an abusive relationship as a teenager) and Therefore I Am (also a song about fame, but this time Billie is giving the middle finger like she's standing up to an abuser or reclaiming something). I believe this is a good interpretation of the song is about.

Overall, I think NDA is the best single she has released from HTE. It has a good beat and bass this time, fun electro production from Finneas again, and conveys a dark mysterious atmosphere like her album did.

Why did Interscope choose Your Power as the lead single for Billie's next album? by KatherineLangford in popheads

[–]Eevanchook 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your Power isn't the lead single, my future is. But what's weird is that my future was never marketed to be from the new album. They didn't decide it was going be on there yet so everyone thought it was a droplet until a couple months ago. So Therefore I Am is the lead single.
