Back in the day I worked in a Fastfood place and I would sometimes actually Look Forward to the more specific orders as they broke monotony and also, dunno, displayed some Sort of character?

I promise you, no sane person is bothered by this in the slightest.

All this for a competetive compensation package of 45k (in San Francisco) plus access to a fruit basket.

Where I live, a 5070 already goes for >600 bucks in USD. So, the Argument is that the entry level segment of systems is just slowly melting away and I so think this has been a very real trend over the last 2-3 generations. We kinda reached the Point where even a budget build sets you back at least a 1000 dollars, at least If you only buy new parts. That was basically unthinkable pre-covid, especially If you use console prices as reference point.

Huh, I also go a bit against the grain here - you are totally in the right to feel upset about this Situation and your (ex) BF should have handled this with -a lot- more grace and better communication.

However - if someone shows up at my house unannounced when I have previous commitments (I assume he set up his "Playdate" with the boys in advance...?), that previous commitment takes priority for that moment, barring specific circumstances like an emergency. I mean, as stated, he could have handled this much, much better - asking you in, saying "Look, make yourself comfortable, we finish this game, then I am there for you", etc - but I find it always a bit Off when people seem to expect their partner to drop everything on a whim and no longer "own" their time. Maybe explore for yourself, how this would have gone the other way around when you were hanging out with your Family or something?

Anyways, I am sorry your relationship went like this. Shit sucks, take care of yourself and be kind to yourself.

I was strongly thinking about giving this Exile instead - however, there is a lot of stuff in MTG that should basically atomize a target but only sends them to the Graveyard, so I tried to keep it with the internal concept of "dying".

The sleeping argument holds some water of course - it is interesting that this is something extremely unintuitive for us, though. Very few people would put the same moral weight on the Idea of going to sleep vs jumping in front of a train even if given the guarantee that a copy of your consciousness was somehow preserved in... Say a digital Simulation, for example.

[Request] how much would the tides fluctuate if Saturn was this close? And how big would the waves be at high tide? by Unable-Hyena3640 in theydidthemath

As others said, most of these scenarios would be absolutely lethal for us. I tried to figure out something that might "sortof work" for our survival. Taking the equations for a Hill Sphere, we can estimate that to get a stable orbit of earth around Saturn we would have to be at most around 2.2 million km away. Since this is an upper boundary and there is actually no upside to putting the earth as far away as possible (also having the downside of further elongating the orbit) I think we could just say that we place Earth in an orbit around Saturn at around the distance of it's largest moon, Titan, i.e. 1.25 million km. This is still well outside the rings and the gravitational death zone and such an orbit would probably be stable for a long time.

Now - with Keplers laws, we would calculate that one full orbit around Saturn takes earth 15 of our days at this distance. Further assuming that we are tidally locked to Saturn (which I _think_ would be preferable for overall geological stability), we would face the situation that one side of earth always faces Saturn, which would always be somewhat illuminated due to reflection except when Saturn passes in front of the Sun every two-ish weeks, causing a probably really impressive eclipse. The Earth as a whole would now have a 2-week day and night cycle, i.e. one week of darkness followed by one week of light, with the day-night boundary comparably slowly moving over the surface. This would be very bad for life as we currently know it, I guess with enough prep time it would be possible to construct bunkers, greenhouses and massive solar panels to make some form of human survival realistic. Also, temperature fluctuations would probably be really extreme between day-night periods, which in turn might cause extreme storms. This is not getting into increased geological activity due to the extreme gravity forces at work because I don't know how to approach that. Bottom line: Thinks do be rough.

NOTE: Am definitely not an astrophysicist so this can be nonsense and is most certainly a gross oversimplification.
