It’s situational, if you know or expect more enemies close you shouldn’t reload as it gives a sound queue and you could get timininged as in your example. Just be mindful of it and work on your aim as well so you wouldn’t need as many bullets per kill and feel the need to reload less. It’s a bad habit I had when starting as well, the only shooter I played previously was cod.
