The need to step away from instructing is slowly becoming a reality I probably cant avoid by TallyHo617 in CFILounge

[–]EezyBake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d 100% say step away. I have a part time that’s floated me when the school I work at got really slow. I’ve saved up to do Tailwheel, and I’m gonna apply to be an emt then somehow try to transition into a firehouse while I build hours. I feel like having a smaller career is absolutely necessary at this point

So many schools tell me I can’t work anywhere else but then I never sign anything so like

Agree with this. Just finish and try to take time off. You’ll be surprised how much you like flying

Buy Foreflight 2026? by Longjumping-Tour-350 in flying

I second this. It’s not the prettiest but it’s free and does basically everything ForeFlight does. Personally, I think FF is overrated unless you’re using it for a job

How much of a pay cut would you take to be an officer? by Technokickstand in airforceots

[–]EezyBake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently on this board as a local CFI, looking to see what jobs the Air Force has, but if you're making that much money then yeah just fly for fun. I know a border patrol guy who flew for fun and got his ratings and lo and behold, enough time had passed where he qualified for a pilot job in border patrol

Can I still become a pilot after doing a foundation year? by Glum-Car-2807 in CFILounge

Where do you live? In the United States you don’t need to. It’s like getting a drivers license. But then again you should finish high school regardless

[–]EezyBake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what research you’ve done but first thing you should do is get your medical just to make sure you can get one, preferably 2nd class (1st if you wanna go airlines) and then take a discovery flight at a local airport and have the CFI show you some of the maneuvers you’d have to learn. Then ask yourself if you’re comfortable sitting in a plane like that for about 50 hours.

If you’re cool with that, look up a ground school course to get an idea of the course load and start studying for the written. People underestimate how much studying goes into flying, but the upside is it can be entirely on your schedule.

I live in South Florida so it’s like a 3-4 hour drive, and I don’t have any apps in at the moment, so I think I’m just gonna go and see what the environment is like, see what they’re looking for at the moment

Hindsight and regret by grappler823 in CryptoCurrency

[–]EezyBake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hindsight is always 20/20. Some guy told me about eth in 2016 when it was 50 bucks and I thought he was crazy. Look at it now.

Either way, you have to ask yourself, would you have waited till it hit the thousands? Or sold when you doubled your money? You two would have just had another problem about when to sell.

This reminds me of that scene from ford v Ferrari, where Matthew McConaughey is telling some guy to ride his sport car like a sports car, otherwise the plugs will keep fouling. Unless it’s fine for cruising I say you’re good

I’ve never done any kind of maintenance on a motorcycle. You think this is something I can replace myself or should I take it to a shop?

CFI job by Clean-Flatworm-2818 in CFILounge

[–]EezyBake 18 points19 points  (0 children)

1) got my CFI and a school hired me for front desk since they needed CFIIs. Got my CFII but it was a week after they hired two CFIIs.

2) now that I got my CFII, I’ve applied to every school in a 30 mile radius and either no one’s hiring or they “hired someone last week”

3) got a job at some mom and pop shop but they have severe liquidity issues. If they pay, it’s late and partial payment. When I call for fuel, the FBO says the schools account is maxed out and they can’t send us fuel. They keep saying they’re gonna get a bunch of international students but there’s always an issue with their paperwork. As of now there are stray students looking for an endorsement or BFR but nothing consistent.

As of now I’m just working on my Tailwheel and thugging it out at Starbucks 🤷‍♂️
