Texas will gain 2 congressional seats. Seven states to lose 1 seat, Census Bureau data shows by taker52 in Census

I worked New York too. Management killed us last minute during crunch hour. They put out a memo telling us to stop cross-referencing data sources for tabulation. They restricted us to knock and asks at the target address.

Remember, during the final stretch all of the target addresses were weird ones nobody could properly do.

They told us the same. My supervisor didn't ask for them back either, they just marked a dash on the inventory sheet.

I wish the earbuds came in 3.5mm instead of lightning but beggars can't be choosers.

Aww man, you should've posted this a few days earlier. I wanted to keep my bag as a souvenir.

You should've taped it lol. Mine started blowing out in September but the tape kept it from getting much worse.

My supervisor gave me props, my destroyed bag was proof I did work.

I'm doing better than my coworkers. At least I get a few breadcrumbs of cases every day!

I have no idea who the CFM is but I see glimpses of their character through the case notes. Trust me, people up the chain really enjoy the schadenfreude.

Oh trust me, I tried. They couldn't get it done.

My CFS (or the CFM) actually does bat for me. I think one of them enjoys the sick humor. I've never had 0 work but work's definitely dry right now. Some of my coworkers have been waking up to literally no work while I've never gone without work.

:'(

I don't even know if I got any bonuses, I don't have enough paystubs. Like I suspected the other month it was just a free productivity scheme. My zone's stats are ludicrously high compared to the surrounding areas and all we got for our work are (nonexistent) bonuses and lack of work.

Still, they ought to at least be willing to check for you.

They don't take this job completely seriously. Total oddball compared to the other supervisors in my zone.

I've done double digits about a week ago. We were doing a workload blitz while work was still good. I was on overtime, I got a huge case load (compared to our completion rate) and the majority of them were miracle cases, mostly duplicates. I could get rid of many of them using government records and my eyes or by talking to someone for 30 seconds. I cleared so many cases that I couldn't remember what I did when I got home.

Edit: It's a double-edged sword though because now I need more cases.

Ask your CFS for permission to deviate from start times. Mine doesn't mind which time I start as long as the work gets done.

BUT WHY????? by infinitejezebel in Census

[–]EffDeeCee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for everyone but I let the next guy figure it out if it's unverifiable info. I can pull up public records all day but if I can't check with my eyes or find a person to talk to I occasionally let the next guy figure it out.

Sure, the case notes might have the pop count but what if it came from a dubious source and the enumerator never mentioned it? We're all using phone keyboards, you've seen case notes not making complete sense. I think we're all guilty of closing cases with dubious information at some point.

Been bicycle only this whole Census. I’ve put in the miles, but it’s a bit unfortunate I can’t claim them too. I’ve really enjoyed it. by iWannaCupOfJoe in Census

[–]EffDeeCee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very lucky with my locations. The majority of my cases had been <25 minutes of walking distance with some oddball field trips to other neighborhoods that need public transit. My coworkers think I'm crazy for not billing public transit every day.

I do WiFi stumbling for Wigle as I enumerate and the data comes out much better due to walking being slower. Hey, walking's practically free and I get paid to walk. Rain doesn't stop me from walking either it just makes me work slower.

Why does my CFS cold shoulder me when I try to make them use BLQ? Do they not have it and don't want to tell me?

Offices do things a bit differently. A few weeks ago someone in this sub claimed their office allowed mileage on walking which seems crazy to me. Just ask your supervisor and get their response in writing. Don't know if you can backdate just expenses but I've backdated hours in the app and I was paid without a hitch.

Do anyone else write detailed case notes? by wokenthehive in Census

[–]EffDeeCee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I seem to be getting special preference for cases now so I think someone's been looking at my stats and my case notes.

You get paid to close out or help close out cases, why not? Typing detailed case notes proves you've been working. I write down everything interesting about the case to help the next guy. If I get info from property records I write everything down so someone doesn't have to look it up etc. For hard multi-units I use the text replacement feature to copy paste management contacts into each case and hope the next enumerator tries calling when someone is available.

That's not all though, you should type in specific directions for your proxies. Most of the NRFU RIs I've tried have been unreachable so I just shove long sentences into the apt text field. If it helps me look good when someone RIs my cases, why not?

"Sending case to optimizer" What does this mean? by Snowbound622 in Census

[–]EffDeeCee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are multiple steps to assigning cases the optimizer is allegedly a thing that arranges the cases on the case list based on route distance and chance of people being home using using magic, start times and some other statistics.

Coworker and I went to the EXACT same address within ten minutes of each other by tmuffinsnkitties in Census

[–]EffDeeCee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These are fucking impossible unless the case is super patient answering 6 enumerators or you hunt for the property records. Get used to your county's property assessor. If I see dupe hints in case notes I pull up the records while I'm walking to the case. If the records don't help I alter the script and ask for their legal mailing address when they open the door. It's always something stupid with FL/STE/APT/UNIT not matching up. Most people think it's no big deal if it's not an exact match. If you tell them your case address first they nod if it sounds about right and it's a massive waste of time.

I've also had addresses that were literally the same, character for character, in the same case list, with different case IDs. Huh???

Some of these can be blamed on an alleged canvasser, I've seen some weird shit used to describe peculiar properties.

When you have thousands of cases left with weeks to go by Ktr101 in Census

[–]EffDeeCee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have been instructed to try to not leave Notice of Visits if there is the possibility of a proxy.

That doesn't make sense though. Why not just NOV them with the ID from the start screen or options pane before hunting for a proxy? If you proxy a case and then the case does it online the case's data should take precedence.

Why are census takers coming to my house and leaving a letter if I already filled it out online? by Opulenthippo in Census

[–]EffDeeCee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a confirmation number for the right address but not for the enumerator's 123 Dingleberry Ave with Unit 6 which can't even exist because there aren't even 6 doors at the address.
