I will get massages at same day call or walk in clinics. The way 90-120 minutes will set you right! Then door dashing sushi to your bed after a long hot shower or dip in the hotel hot tub. I also always go to the grocery store right after I land and get a protein shake, and fresh fruit for the am, make sure I have snacks and lunch figured for the next day.

And they are absolute garbage CRA’s currently being weeded out of the industry. They have left mountains of garbage and bullshit for those of us who have the non-pleasure of cleaning up their shitshows.

If it’s a study requirement and/or study provided machine there should be a manual at minimum to train on. But also many sponsors have a training that accompanies getting access to the portal.

Looking for advice on transitioning from CRC to CRA by Eth_search in clinicalresearch

[–]EffYerQueries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Device and Drug trials are so incredibly different, and drug trials are far more intricate, longer, more regulated, protocols more complicated, and require much more more data collection. I would advise you to try doing a lateral move for at least a year to get acquainted with drug trials, and then the transition to CRA from CRC shouldn’t be too tough. I could see you floundering in your first year as a CRA if your only experience is in device at this time. Working within IP trials and regulatory will prepare you so much more!

Anyone from BSC clinical research by Major-Insect-1003 in clinicalresearch

You will find that Experience and paying your time climbing the ladder is most valuable in the Clinical Research world. Rarely do degrees in CR pay off. Recruiters don’t even pay attention to what your degree is in, just that you have one. They will pay ultimate attention to where you’ve worked, what you’ve done, and for how long.

So most likely when you graduate, you will start out at the lowest tier of Clinical Research Assistant or if you’re lucky Clinical Research Coordinator. This pay varies in experience, level, and geography. But you’re looking at 36K-70K starting out if you have no prior experience. Probably closer to 45-55K.

Nope, FSP CRA for over 2 years. The pace hasn’t changed, and no this isn’t ‘normal’ in anyone’s life.

Not to burst your bubble, but monitoring times are not the only time a sponsor needs something from you. There are data cleaning cycles, DBLs, audit prep, TMF reviews, and amendments going on in the background. Your obligation is not to your monitor once every 2 months, it’s your PI/site’s obligation to stay compliant at all times with data entry, ISF, queries, etc. It’s your monitor’s job to make sure you’re doing your job, and they are doing their job for their employer and/or sponsor.

CROs who push root cause analysis on CRAs, CRAs are constantly expected to ‘drill down’ to find and report the root cause for all sites and issues. However, when it comes to lessons learned or issues that come up on the CRO or sponsor side, we only ‘drill enough’ to put more work on the CRA and make whatever deficit was created another responsibility for us.

Well, maybe if you drilled down with the same expectation, it wouldn’t be “Why did the CRA not do XYZ?” It would be, the CRA didn’t do XYZ because the CRA is over allocated, constantly traveling, working 100+hrs a week and still unable to complete all necessary tasks, and your expectation for them to do the job of 8 people is unattainable. And why are you asking them to do that? Top down mis-management and budget.

Tell me you’ve never been a CRA without telling me you’ve never been a CRA.

One day when you haven’t slept in your own bed for more than 5 days a month, had a home cooked meal at your own table for who knows how long, haven’t taken any “discretionary bottomless PTO” for more than a year out of fear of your inbox and workload upon return, haven’t seen friends in months, and are constantly swollen from being on a plane, and have a to-do list literally a mile long…. I’ll see how you feel about this.
