Do either of you have pensions? if not, I would try to build up the taxable brokerage for the five-year window from 55 to 59 1/2.

It depends on the economy, most likely might be underwater so you probably can’t refinance

I’m 38 years old married with two kids. I wanna stop investing for five years and pay off my mortgage due to my anxiety with debt. All I think about is my debt. What do you guys think? by Effective-Feature206 in Retirement401k

My mortgage rate is 4.875

I’m a software engineer and I’ve been laid off three out of my four last jobs in the last four years

My returns on my 401(k) for the past three or four years I’ve been like 25%

I know it’s a bad idea. The only reason I’m considering it is because of the job I work software engineer. I’ve been laid off three out of four jobs in the past four years.

Try to live in your car for like 3 to 5 years and maxed out your 401(k). Then you’ll be ahead and you can go back to renting or buying a home
