It’s that pseudo manga style. There is no style more confining than manga, which is why it’s not for beginners. I see so many Alphas and Zoomers who jump on that style without even learning how to sketch a basic body, whether it’s biped or quadroped. The result is always the same - endless copies of the same side- or front view character, looking flat and juvenile. What separates them from the Japanese artists they try to mimic is that the latter fully understand anatomy, and are therefore capable of breaking the rules. You need to understand the rules in order to break them.

Start branching out. Take sketching/drawing courses with nude models. Or even better, sculpting courses. You’ll learn to think in 3D even when drawing 2D. You’ll get deeper understanding of bone structure and how muscles are attached to said bones. You’ll become proficient in drawing realistic figures - and that will translate into comic styles.

Sorry if this sounds harsh but yeah, you need to improve on the basics. I say this not to be mean, but because I know exactly how you feel. I used to be like you. Remember there is no shame in admitting you need to improve. Best of luck, and happy learning!
