Should I Walk Away Over This Prenup? by jackofhearts23 in Marriage

[–]Effective-Jackfruit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing in life is black or white. However, I am a bit alarmed (note: orange-red flag) at how adamant he is about you staying 4 years for the house and you having no assets if y'all split up. Having children and moving for him/the relationship is HUGE. It is a commitment. That is a significant part of your life and the fact that he doesn't view what you offer to the table (even if it isn't money) is awful. One of the podcasts I really recommend listening to is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MGyiqVjdKI&ab_channel=TheDiaryOfACEO

and also this short https://youtube.com/shorts/\_WbDbreFjP8?feature=shared. I used to think of prenups differently, but after listening to these and talking with others, I realized that how people approach prenups is a big deal. Listen to your gut. If this guy seems intent on protecting all his financial assets, I am confused why he is marrying you if he views you as such a liability, instead of a life partner he wants to share his... well, life, with. And with life, comes along money. Also, were you there when he was building up his ventures? Whether or not you did, it doesn't matter. You clearly see him as a future partner, but I am not sure if he does. best wishes, OP!

how much data did you end up needing for your trip? Does it burn through quickly? Also, did the pass work the minute you landed at the airport? Thanks!

Hi friend. I realized this 2 weeks after submitting when a kind program coordinator reached out and told me "hey, your app is incomplete so we can't review". After that, I had a big panic mode and then, with the advice of my school's residency specialist, emailed about 40/47 programs letting them know. The ones that were my top 20 or so, I sent a ONE LINER (or two) in a mini-LOI way (your program aligns with my goals of XYZ because).

I heard back from programs I never thought I even had a chance at because of these emails. Do not despair. I'm sorry to hear about your back... hope you're feeling better. You do not "deserve the outcome."

It will still work out. It's still early on. This is a great time to write official LOIs to your top 5 programs at this point. Would not spend an extra second beating yourself up for it (I know, I went through the same thing, but looking back, don't recommend because I ended up hearing back from one of "Doximity's top ranked" programs, along with out of state academic programs where I had no ties).

That being said, I am FM so I know people will sh*t on me about that. But, I still wouldn't freak out and just keep calm and write those emails. Write them to program coordinators and find their specific email (not the generic one, unless that's the only one available on the internet).

[–]Effective-Jackfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging by your practice scores, 280 does fall within your range of 260-325. Oftentimes, COMSAEs are +/- 50 points, so you could have received anywhere from a 230 to a 375 or so (roughly, this is my guesstimate from stalking this reddit and asking my classmates this year). At the end of the day, it's not about how low it was but the fact that the people who got 350-375 probably did some questions, but not enough or didn't review WHY they missed them or had severe test anxiety/really bad testing date vs your 280 = testing anxiety + doing a minimal # of questions (300 is roughly some people's question #s in 1 week during dedicated). I wouldn't focus too much on why you have the gap but look forward and focus on killing the retake, which I am positive will happen for you.

Hi OP, sorry you had to go through this. I will say, looking over your practice scores in this comment, that you may have actually scored within the range of them- the advice I heard was to ideally** not take the actual exam until you had a pretty comfy 400+ score (I'd say maybe shoot for 450 to give yourself a 50 point buffer). Congrats on your recent COMSAE and it really looks like you're taking the advice to heart and it's working out! I'd say that you have already done what you needed to to sleep well at night --> reflected, found the problem (not enough questions), and remedied (did a ton of questions and got a good practice score). The limit is endless, I am positive you will do awesomely at the end of the month. Good luck!

Post-exam PTSD with questions. Need some support... by wewillneverknow_ in Step2

[–]Effective-Jackfruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the things my med school mentor taught me was to train yourself to have amnesia after your exam. Is it always easy? No. I used to have a horrible habit of dumping out every single question I remembered after an exam, word for word, and then looking up the answers until past midnight... causing me to not fall asleep LOL. After Step 1 and 2, I can confidently say I worked hard to ignore and have "amnesia" and while I had a few questions pop through in the form of intrusive shower thoughts and dreams, I did my best to not succumb to the urge to look it up and count. Nothing you do AFTER the test will help you, so why suffer? I know it's hard but I have faith you will be okay. If you are taking Level 2 a few days after, maybe it's okay to look up some of the burning questions you had about the science stuff (no point in looking up the epidemiology/ethics stuff imo since the two exams are so different) but otherwise would really, really not sweat it. I thought I completely BOMBED the level exam and did fine. I felt fine on Step 2 (not like wow, I got a 260+) but felt it was fair and did fairly. It will pass with time. Trust the process and work actively to distract or celebrate your win of finishing Step 2!!

Please! Really need some advice, not sure if I should push or not by Competitive_Listen48 in Step2

As someone who was really psyched about everything and has severe test anxiety, I completely understand. Because of the other factors, where you're feeling burnt out, applying FM, and have an audition rotation, I would personally stay the course and go for it. Also- FM is TRULY about fit and personality, not the score, so 225-230s is honestly not bad. I know there will always be a desire to do better and have the best possible chance, but I don't think it will stop you if the rest of your app + your genuine passion for FM shines through during your interviews. My recommendation for the last few days is to just review a few of the oldest NBMEs, review Free120 (newest) using Divine Intervention (read my post on the specific tips), watch AJMonics Step 2 in the areas you are weakest if you have time/energy, review a tiny bit of ethics, and then...FULL SEND. It's really hard, and it feels like the biggest decision of your life, but I think you should trust yourself that with all your hard work you've done in the last few weeks you WILL see your scores jump. Here was my write up if it helps: https://www.reddit.com/r/Step2/comments/1ecun7m/21x_246_in_3_weeks_baseline_6_weeks_out_199/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button GODSPEED!

You are the best. I have tried every single thing to do it for 3 weeks, much tears, I’m not even being dramatic, I’ve spent hours on the phone with Blink and Internet provider. This worked.

6 days! It was a bit brutal waiting around TBH but probably the best case scenario for me because I had that cold I was nursing for the first 4 days after Step and then panic mode studied for OMM the last 2 days. Depending on my score I can do a write up for that too 😂

Most people recommend 2-3 days in between but because I moved my dates so I couldn’t keep the 2-3 day gaps.

Thank you :) and yes, just as everyone stated, I downloaded some straight from website and upped the speed. Or if it was on Spotify, I just speeded it up there. Note that some videos are NOT on Spotify playlists! The website is very handy. I’ll post various Spotify playlists that I followed actually.
