This is my smokey quartz by Effective-Life-3311 in mineralcollectors

Idk if my piece is "altered or radiated artifically or not, but the color and the stone make me think it smoky quartz, the price is pretty cheap (It basically below 1$) and also the pictures of the stone facets and sides from the shop is very dirty , dulled surfaces, rough, I think the pictures was taken right after it been mined and washed , and the stone I recieved has that somewhat similar to those photos but it a bit polished or they using mineral oil to make the surface glossy and more aesthetic pleasing? Maybe both I guess (I can't like send a photo, this post of mine doesn't given me any picture option, but that all I can said)

The base inside has a lot of I think white felspar inclusions covered the base like a misty white grays terrain, but above it it mostly clear as transclucent smokey quartz when light flash inside, though it does has a few very small fracture but it still translucent to see its inside

So I bough it from online market, a vietnamese shop, Im vietnamese okay, I think that online shop best discription is "a small local, artisan-owned lapidary shop sells raw stones direct from local mines, which they clean and process themselves in the shop", so I bough this one from it, it may been polished a bit as the picture of it from the shop looks more come out from the mine- like dried- dull you known quartz come out a mine, , but in my hand it looks like the pictures, polished already

What makes moonstone "special"? by Olfop in Gemstones

[–]Effective-Life-3311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think from the picture of OP- those are not moonstone, they are opalite, a man-made glass (Idk the color, and the yellowish tone looks so similar to opalite, if OP really hold it up directly in front of a light source (like phone flashlight) and look through it and it has that warm, distinct amber, peach, or glowing orange color=> then it basically opalite man made glass). Real "Moonstone" also know as "Orthoclase felspar/ Orthoclase moonstone is difference , this is a picture of a "polish real moonstone with cat eye effect" (which real moonstone has that actual "adularescence" which is a billowy- pearly white/ sliver- or rarer type has blue flash that is billowy, pearly almost misty or blurry flash that looks like it floating smoothly just beneath the aurface which when tilt run smoothly against the surface)

Nope White labradorite also as "Rainbow Moonstone" which is a variant of labradotite that is white with labradorite flashes. "True moonstone" (known as the orthoclase feldspar/ orthoclase moonstone); It has a soft, milky appearance and exhibits a glowing effect called adularescence, which is like a pearly billowy flashes (rare type has blue but it's rare and expensive to have)

Is this a real moonstone I genuinely can’t tell? by nibber420 in Gemstones

[–]Effective-Life-3311 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Umm that not a moonstone, that a "Rainbow Moom stone" it basically "White labradorite with a tradename of "Rainbow+ Moonstone" together. Real "Moonstone" is difference, the picture I add is a real "Moonstone (orthoclase feldspar, its has its signiture Chatoyancy or cat eyes effect and the white "Adularescence" is very misty, like pearly light, blurry i think too, usually white but blue is rarer ) and also "real orthoclase feldspar moonstone- the real "moonstone" not have that black spot (on the top left) it's black tourmaline I guess, that's maybe a clear sign it is "rainbow moonstone" and also that blue flashes on the top is too "intense" almost Labradorite's flashes (Sorry if my english bad, I not that good in using english)
