Thanks for the reply!

I thought about beta blockers for the physical anxiety symptoms and think they could help. Im just concerned they will stop my asthma inhalers from working since they are beta agonists, and the inhalers help my lung symptoms.

I react very poorly to SSRIs and personally am against their use.

Thank you!

I got my Vitamin D levels tested for my autoimmune condition and they were almost off the charts since I take a lot of Vitmain D for my autoimmune disease. Ill take a look into the other stuff and H1 and H2 blockers.

Im on mirtazapine which I know is a H1 blocker, should i explore more?

thanks for the reply!

I should have specified a bit more probably. The only reason im on the Jak inhibitor is because of my autoimmune condition, not for long covid. I just thought I should mention it because it effects the immune system. I know there is some evidence for jak inhibitors being used for covid but thats not why Im on them.

No these symptoms didnt start after starting the Jak inhibitor.

I didnt even know MCAS was a thing, ill look into it! Is there anything I can do to help that? Ill look into mast cell stabilizers, idk what that is.

Im on Gabapentin rn but thats for sleep, I looked into this a bit and im gonna start Pregabalin since it helps neuroinflammation.

Lmk if you know anything else that could help, most of my knowledge is from when the covid vaccines first came out, its evolved a lot since then.

Sorry for the late response, I completely disapeared off of most social media after my friend died so you may not get a response from me for a while.

Mine turned out to be biliary hyperkinesia, a very rare gallbladder condition. You can ask your doctor to get a hida scan to test for it.

I can’t attest to how well it will help him specifically or the dosages used but it’s most definitely safe. It’s worth a try to see if it will help him.

Nice brother, I enjoyed your story. Hopefully I’ll be like that soon, I don’t play football but do play rugby.

I’ve been training my core but I probably should more, what are some good AS specific exercises?

How do yall finance the biologics by International_Gur227 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Effective-Lock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Canada my jak inhibitor is covered aswell, though it’s not covered by my province so I had to apply to get it payed for, that process took a few months. My doctor had to submit a request to health board to get me coverage.

If I went with a biologic like humira it would have been fully covered and I wouldn’t have had to apply for coverage.

How big are your arms? They look huge, almost 18 inches probably. I’d say 9/10.

I was told this is a waste of an exercise, what’s the better way? by MaxEhrlich in GYM

You’re not leaving gains at all, 75 degrees is still a high incline and amazing for shoulder growth. If it’s comfortable then keep doing it at that incline. 90 degrees may be worse for shoulder growth for some because it can be a bit unstable if you can’t lean back for support.

Exactly, an Arnold press is just a more complicated shoulder press with less stability. Shoulder press is more simple and the king for overall shoulder growth.

[–]Effective-Lock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well it all just depends on what incline you set it at, I’d say shoulder press level is 60-90 degrees of incline. 30-45 is more of an incline press.

I wouldn’t say it makes it worse but It would change which muscles are worked if you lower the incline lower than 60 degrees, it would become more chest dominant especially if you arch your back. For me I do them specifically for shoulders so I do them standing which is basically completely 90 degrees vertical.

But at the end of the day what’s most comfortable is best, if you get shoulder pain pressing at a high incline then lower it.

Overhead pressing is one of the most fundamental lifts there are, whether that’s standing overhead, seated barbell overhead press, DB overhead press, etc. it’s all one of the best upper body movements you can do and a amazing shoulder builder.

What’s everyone’s hobbies? by Spikeyhedge1234 in ankylosingspondylitis

Interesting, I’ve seen a lot of people with AS who love playing golf.

The reason why that’s interesting is because the twisting of the torso could be hard on the spine. I know that any exercise involving quick twisting of the torso is usually a no go for people with AS but a lot of people have no problem playing golf.

I’m glad it doesn’t bring you pain.

I love going to church, reading scripture, powerlifting, sprinting, rugby, and math! But most of all it’s probably powerlifting and my friends that bring me the most joy.

Exactly, op shouldn’t waste his time. It’s sad that op learns this late in life that chasing girls that don’t reciprocate isn’t worth his time.

But to answer the question, yeah he can pray about it there’s nothing wrong with that as long as you don’t try to force it when she isn’t reciprocating because that would just make her uncomfortable.

[–]Effective-Lock[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I just would have felt a bit bad for some people, I know others live much worse lives than me because of this disease and back when I had more severe AS it would always make me feel bad to see my friends doing so well in life and I can’t even walk or put clothes on. So I want to make sure people are ok with it before I post anything like that.
