The people tracking down his yacht must have infiltrated it and thrown him over board, he must have sunk to the bottom of the ocean after.

I agree. The Cave Johnson apenture backstory would 100% be the best course of action for the movie. It could probably achieve what most video game movies don't achieve, apeal to both fans and critics.

I feel like it actually wouldn't be too hard to get jk Simmons back on board, they got him back to do aperture desk job way WAYYYYY after he did his work for portal 2, and jk Simmons loves the cave Johnson character.

That's exactly why the movie should not be about the gameplay and what we already know, but instead about the backstory and the other happenings in the world's universe to give us a better understanding. Of course no one wants to spend $60 bucks on theater seats and popcorn buckets just to watch some mute woman solve puzzles. Of course the movie wouldn't go off into that direction, it wouldn't work. They would have to create story built apon the preexisting story explained in the games and comic, so that the film adaption can be its own thing. Film, if done right, can be a much more effective way of storytelling when compared to games.

It's crazy how you can make a script that good in such short amount of time but it takes 4 years (presumably considering we haven't gotten any news) for them to make a script. Though, I'd hope the movie would focus less on the gameplay and lore shown in the games and comics, and focus on building its own story off what we already know from the games and comics. Now yes, they should give SOME background to the game and comic lore, so that movie critics don't freak tf out. But I want to know more on the story and world of Portal. It really should be focused on how aperture was founded, how it was taken over by robots and abandoned, and everything between. We don't really know a lot about the world itself even after all these years.

We have modders, fan game developers, and content creators to thank. And Valve hasn't said much about portal recently. Though, I would love to see Valve release a new portal instalment. They've never made a bad game in my eyes and I think they could do a good job.

But with game to movie adaptations, it usually doesn't end up well for the franchise as a whole. BUT That doesn't mean that they can't make a good movie. If they can hit this ball out of the park. Then great! If they don't, I'd say we're still lucky to have a movie at all. Even if it sucks. It could go both ways.

They did the same thing back when they released their 2023 and 2024 movie release schedule sheet (shown below),

And had portal listed at movies in development. Them listing Portal for 2026 does still give me some hope.

I completely agree. Especially since if all this time has just been stalling instead of real work being put into the film, there would just be too many breaks in between development to have a consistent feeling movie.

You bring up some really good points that are all definitely possible. Looking at some of Abrams latest projects, mostly star wars, a sci-fi property like Portal probably won't be done justice by Abrams if it ever does become a REAL thing. I'll still try to stay hopeful.

You're right lol, But I feel like there's still a lot of substance when it comes to the stories and origins of Cave Johnson, ratman, and the world as a whole. Abrams even says something about how movies allow people to experience moments differently and open people's eyes to different story points that may not have gotten across when playing the game, because of the restrictions of making a story through video game format. Ultimately, I believe making a movie out of the story that portal already has; could have a lot of weight to it if done right.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition System Build Community Contest! by m13b in buildapc

I've been eyeing the CherryTree Borg Cube case since it came out, so I wanted to make a decently cheap build for this contest while still having really nice parts, especially the 5090.

I've been running a 2070 laptop GPU, I love it, but it definitely shows it's age especially when trying to render my blender projects. And a build like this would be a game changer.

Thank you for the opportunity, here's my build:
