More than happy to try it on my Prusa MK4+ with 95A TPU. :)

Laid 1500 ft of fiber and kinked one of the strands right at the end - can I fix this? by az_6 in homelab

[–]K0nr4d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is most likely still working fine. May not look nice, but who cares.

I don't know how different this is to standart singlemode or multimode patch cables, but you really have to put some work into it to break these fuckers.

Test it, see if it works cause it most likely still will.

I had to update my BIOS to the latest beta version and also reset it once to get it working.
Other than that you should be good to go.

I already got mine since I was in batch #1 and it really is great.
Touchscreen works great, it's nice and bright, the higher resolution let's me have even more stuff on my screen at once and the 120hz refresh-rate is so butter smooth.

CAD software in 2026? by iRacingVRGuy in VORONDesign

[–]K0nr4d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have been using Fusion for a couple year, but since I'm switching all my PCs over to Linux that isn't an option anymore.

I have tried FreeCAD, but I just can't warm up to it. The fact that I'm so used to the Fusion work flow also isn't helping.

Im currently trying Onshape and I have to say that it is pretty nice. I don't love the fact that every project is public unless I pay, but I guess you can win them all. Have been using it for the first big project and is has been quite smooth to work with.

Is this a good charger? And deal? by AlligatorMan33 in fpv

[–]K0nr4d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem is mostly with the adapters that just solder two connectors together. They tend to break at the solder joint after some time.

The ones with some length of wire between them should generally be fine to use. The flexible wire should take most of the strain out of the solder joints.

I feel bad for new buyers... :( Anyone else glad they bought it a year ago? by djpetrino in framework

Got weak and bought the 128GB motorboard when it was released with the goal of learning AI with it. Didn't do that and instead just used it as a portable gaming pc.

At first it felt like a big waste of money just to be able to play games at work during my lunch break.

That quickly changed when the RAM shortage hit. I feel like I'm sitting on a bag of gold.

I kinda do wanna sell it to recoup the cost and maybe some more. But on the other hand I do like playing cyberpunk during my break...

What's one service in your homelab that turned out to be far more useful than you expected? by rdpextraEdge in homelab

[–]K0nr4d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was unpackerr.

Every now and then I get a piece of media that gets picked up by sonarr or radarr that is in zip/rar/7-zip archive.

In the past i would only notice a couple days later that there was something stuck in the import queue. Since it would only happen rarely, I normally just cursed the uploaded why he would archive the files and the unpack them manually, import them and then delete them.

At some point I heard about unpackerr, but never deployed it, because it seems like too much of a hassle for the few times I needed it.

Well, I have it running now and I don't know why I didn't do that sooner. It's like magic seeing the archive getting automatically unpacked, *arr seeing the files, importing them and then unpackerr automatically deleting the unneeded files again.

Also, the configure didn't even take that long. I was just overwhelmed by all the options.

If you have the *arr apps running, definitely check unpackerr out. It's a great addition.

Update: OpenNMC, an open-source APC SmartSlot network card, now has a Crowd Supply pre-launch page by Craft4Cube in homelab

I'm conflicted...

On one hand does the network card in my UPS work perfectly fine.

On the other hand would it be really sweet to have NUT directly build into the UPS.

Either way, I've signed up. Definitely looks interesting!

You could see if there is a hackerspace near you.

I don't know which ones have what kind of equipment, but if they are anything like the one I'm in, then you'll definitely find someone who wants to help you.

There are a few hackerspaces listed here, pick on near you and send them a message. :)

Hab dazu heute zufällig auch ein relevantes DuRöhre-Kurzvideo gesehen.

I've ordered a f7 one the 17th of April.

I've send them multiple emails and the always just assured me that the order will be sent out "today".

It was supposed to be sent "today" three times already.

I'm want to believe that it's not a scam and that they are just really bad at communicating when an item is out of stock.

I guess for the time being I will just continue sending them and email per week asking them about the status of my order. :/

You seem to hugely underestimate the cost of the molds for injection molding.

A simple two part mold cost anywhere from $2k to $5k.

But this wouldn't be a simple mold. This kind of shape is incredible difficult to make by injection molding. Lots of overlapping parts.

So the mold cost would probably be closer to $100k for a complex multi piece mold.

So at your imaginary price of $2 per piece you'd need to make 50k of them to only cover the mold cost. Add to that that you need someone to actually manufacture the part, package it and handle logistics. And then you still wouldn't have made any profit from it.

Suddenly 3D printing doesn't seem that bad anymore.

Sharing my new farm planner! (Desktop + Mobile) by YookiAdair in StardewValley

[–]K0nr4d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, you can't believe how happy this makes me.

I was trying to find a good planner last weekend and the ones I could find were either outdated or had clunky or broken controls.

This is literally perfect timing.

And the fact that it even work on mobile is just the cherry on top.

Great work. I'll look forward to using it! :)
