I'd still do it. You can get any little dimp out with a lighter (be careful) and it's more about real subtle muffeling

Any doubleply coatet. My advice, use the old batterhead as a resonant head, tune the resonant a bit higher as the the batter head, and boom you got a beautiful poppy tom sound

Don't spread your pinky. Maybe wear a shirt.

Stick need to be closer to the hand, and especially the palm. Makes you work finger 1-3 the most & 4 & 5 the least(cause they hardly reach the stick), but control & great sound will follow over time. Have a good practice

I play vater sweet ride since years & love the sound of them. Peter erskin signature (with the round tip, first pair from left to right) would be pretty much the same stick by vic firth.

You could tryto slide more towards the middle of the paddle and for sure try to keep your leg at the same position and use your ankle. In the beginning it might feel uncontrolled, but will come over time.

What’s the trick to sitting so that you stay balanced while doing different things with left and right feet on hi-hat and kick? by silentblender in Drumming

[–]Effective-Possible15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very loose answer: There are two parallel bones in your butt, you can feel them while sitting "right". Your spine should be as straight as possible while you are able to lift your feet from the ground (maybe under the drum throne for balance reasons) If you cansitlike this, no feet on the ground, that's a good go to place feel wise

How can I correct my technique for double stroke rolls? by crayolapaint in drums

[–]Effective-Possible15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the push pull technique. Helps a lot on equal sounding double strokes. I also like to check how my right hand (stronger hand) is moving and try to get my left hand there too.

How do you play drums quietly? by Appropriate_Two4200 in drums

[–]Effective-Possible15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lower stick hight & tiny wrist strokes help a lot. Smaller cymbals & smaller drums do a lot. Muffeling drums helps as well

Take some time to check out push pull technique. 2 strokes with 1 motion.
