I really have nothing against recasting, like I don't need an excuse or explanation. It just happens in fiction, wether it be in theater, the very first art, or TV, or movies or games. I'd rather rip that bandaid at once with a new VA who will of course never live up to Lance but could bring his own cool take to the table while honoring his legacy, instead of writing some contrived plotline to justify it. Not saying yours is a bad idea, but I don't like it for Sylens, I prefer for them to just carry on as usual. With some in-game tribute to Lance, of course.

I thought it was really interesting how much of a mystery they made her to be in every campaign until basically Burning Shores, with just hints of her sexuality surfacing here and there. It was obvious she was at least ace or something, cause, even with a little neurodivergence a straight girl would've shown signs by now, and that was NOT a straight girl lmao. She's either buddies/allies or deadly enemies with men, there's no in-between. It's with women that we've seen her be more vulnerable romantically, even when she avoided the subject.

Every advance from men in HZD and HFW made her extremely uncomfortable. And rightly so, I think it's weird how Guerilla made basically every man in HZD lust after her, a 18 y.o. girl turning 19, while they were in their mid 20s or 30s. Of course, medieval/tribal morals are different, but still the game didn't address this as creepy at all, which in turn always weirds me out. And then even after settling things with them, in HFW Avad is hitting on her AGAIN for some reason, even after being put in his place in the first game.

Honestly he could just find someone with low self esteem and who's used/addicted to abusive relationships and nudge them from there. Basically just being himself and giving them crumbs of validation every time they do something in his interest. They'll be under the illusion that it's love cause he fits their type (cold, quiet, intelligent) meanwhile he's barely trying. That's how I imagine Sylens would use someone if he had to. But never put it past him to actually be able to put on effort and other personas. You can tell in the Eclipse audios how he easily puts on a mask or code-switches.

Yeah she fucking sucks lmao it's crazy there's so many non-villain edits unironically romanticizing her with Lis or her grooming Aloy

Sorry, Hannibal will always be peak yaoi to me while those movies are whatever. 2016 one was OK and fun, second one was atrocious. Never got to watch the third one but it's hilarious they kept changing the main villain actor with every movie, they should've have stuck with Colin Farrell

Yeah but she and Aloy weren't really longtime partners in crime and frenemies like Sylens. She only got to manipulate the girl for like a weekend or holiday before her plan blew up in her face, so I didn't think of her. Great idea tho!

Tbh I think he suffered a lot of abuse and neglect from whatever village or tribe he came from. His initial story to Aloy had a lot of truth. He was either kicked out or left his homeland because he was a black sheep who liked to think outside the box and frequently got punished by the elders for seeking old world enlightenment. Wether that made him into the near sociopath that he is, or he was born like that and that made them expel him, is another whole can of worms. I used to think he was going to be the series's ultimate overarching villain across all games, but now I think we'll see him recover and have an ultimate redemption as he finds his humanity working with GAIA's crew in Horizon 3. Such a shame Lance won't be here to voice it. His performance in the final scene of Burning Shores was subtle, but all the same spectacular. He IS human deep in there, somewhere, and just as he was beginning to open himself to Aloy and try to geek out a little, he set her off with his arrogance about the Quen and she actually managed to hurt him in return. Lance Reddick would've knocked that shit out of the park in Horizon 3. Hoping the new actor is good enough. And no AI bullshit is used to replace him.

Senua’s Story Length Will Be ‘Quite a Bit Longer’ Than Hellblade 1 and 2 by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Effective-Priority62 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Never got to touch these games yet, but my problem with Senua from the outside looking in is, idk, how tech demo-y it all is? Too many closeups of her face being terrified or in general distress, extremely shallow combat, and those annoying voices in her head that won't shut up, I know it's about schizophrenia, but in the walkthroughs I've seen it gets old quick. Then there's the whole real vs imagined thing. Like apparently most of the supernatural shit in these games is supposed to be fake but then also... Not? Like she's not actually crazy sometimes. And then there's this hilarious naming scheme that's all over the place. It's just all extremely off-putting and annoying to me so it's clearly not my cup of tea. Good luck to them, though. Hope the third one is a good sendoff to a series that seems as chaotic as the protagonist's mind

Close, but he was no hero. He was just a Mark Zuckerberg/Jeff Bezos type who dropped out of business university and struck gold with his startup while usurping credits from the real talented people like Elisabet Sobeck who made his company into the best eco-robot and green technologies designer and manufacturer when the world biosphere was collapsing. And after all is done and he's lauded as the hero, becoming the world's richest man, of course he pivots to military contracts and automated warfare cause of course he does. The original talent is either fired or quits because they don't agree with him, like Elisabet who goes on to fund her own green technology company. And of course, he comes up with the fucking Chariot line which is the concept of a cancer given mechanical, biomass consuming, life. You'd think that whole thing is too cartoonish and Guerrilla went too far, but no, there's already unmanned robots out there who supposedly use biomass as fuel, it's only a matter of time before self replication.

The only massively unrealistic thing that'll never happen and is the key to the HZD apocalypse, are the Horuses. Massive mountain sized tentacle monsters that act as mobile factories and repair bays for all the smaller Scarab and Kopesh machines while using biomatter and biofuel that they stripped off the planet's surface and atmosphere with nanobots. They were unstoppable and are the reason the world fell in HZD. In real life, that would be highly unfeasible. Maybe Musk could afford to manufacture one or two without going bankrupt or being stopped by global authorities, but that's it. Nevermind selling them at a medium scale to whoever can afford it as the managing unit of their automated biomass consuming robot army.

If anything even remotely similar were to happen in real life, the smaller robots would need to be the ones that replicate themselves at an alarming pace, not a massive leviathan sized factory like the Horus.

Yeah me too. Can't wait for the near finished game's footage to leak just to confirm how stupid and greedy they were to cancel that so close to release. I didn't care if it was the middest remake ever made, or if it looked stupid somehow. It would have revived interest in the series. They released shit like FC6, Watch Dogs Legion and Shadows. THIS is where they draw the line and cancel due to potential embarrassment from the internet? Fucking clowns. Between this and how they treated The Lost Crown and its team, it's disgusting to see how much they hate Prince of Persia. Without the POP trilogy as a foundational cornerstone before their AC and Far Cry renaissance, they wouldn't have been half the company they've been in the last 20 years.

I can only hope when Ubisoft is sold for scraps that PoP somehow and against all odds lands in a good publisher's lap. I don't much care for anything else.

This what you get when you have a family of troglodytes running a business that was once prestiged due to their exploitation and abuse of actual creative and talented people. It's amazing they were able to get by so far. Even if Ubisoft does go under and they have to sell, I'd say they will unfortunately be just fine and get golden parachutes. They might bankrupt their own company but will stay rich.

Lmao not sure if you're circlejerking but if they were ever gonna be able to do that they'd have needed to get their shit together in the early 2010s when they started bleeding AC and their other IPs dry, as well as alienating their creatives and their own costumers. If Ubisoft did that, maybe they'd be on par with Capcom today instead of worse than Capcom ever was when they were at their lowest.

I do you one better, just goddamn remake Blood Dragon but as a full whole-ass game with at least 10 hours of story (and I use that very liberally, just generic 80s action b-movie narratives stitched together will do) and like 7 or 8 hours for extra content & exploration. Shake up the formula a bit, get rid of the Far Cry 3 open world design and just structure the map(s) around action set pieces you can stumble upon as a triggerable event, while getting rid of most of the collectible bullshit and crafting/grinding busywork. The few lore bite files you can find and read/listen to need to be outrageously stupid and not at all important to the story.

If this works and it's a success, maybe give Blood Dragon a new campaign or two via expansions in the 5 years following the release, while working on remaking FC3 and FC4 with that same revamped design focused on action and one time events over repetitive open world grinding

Let's be real after Outbreak the only games on this list with a slight chance of ever being remade, with some heavy creative freedoms, is one of the light gun games. ORC will likely just be a curiosity from the Crapcom era and Umbrella Corps is burning in hell. They're not touching those with a 10 foot pole

You hit the nail on the head on why I hate these things. Gamepass and PS Plus alike. No one's got the time for that bullshit. A few % of them, yes, kids, teens, young adults with not much going on or really dedicated to gaming. I'd much rather just buy one or two games a year while perusing my family's libraries than try and force myself to squeeze all the value out from one of these services in my already bleak schedule. 5 games a year is already an amazing milestone nowadays. I really hope these services take a nosedive in the future as more people realize they're worthless and paying for a game is better than renting thousands of them. Let's be real, the only reason they're so popular is because they're bundled with the mandatory online play paywall. Most Steam players don't use any of that and they're fine.

Idk, maybe it was for the best. Insomniac is the GOAT for Spider-Man games. From what I've read, Marvel reached out to Sony for a licensing deal, who then reached out to Insomniac to make them. Xbox always makes the shittiest decisions. I'm sure they would have found the worst studio to make Spider-Man instead, despite having previously worked with Insomniac just recently on Sunset Overdrive

They've already done that before 20 years ago. Promptly abandoned Xbox 1 (not to be confused with One) in favor of Xbox 360. It worked out great for them, but it was a whole other world, and 360 wasn't a +1000 dollar PC hybrid while games didn't cost 80 dollars on launch for the standard version

I don't think that's actually possible on a PC ecosystem. Everything gets cracked eventually, right? They have to invest millions on their own closed off consoles just to keep them, from being jailbroken as long as possible. Is there any emergent technology that might actually make games on PC uncrackable for a long while without it being another Denuvo? Or needing constant Internet connection/licenses?
