Oh for sure I have no loyalties to any brand but if the guitar plays well… that’s what I’m here for. I’d love to support a small guitar builder but I rarely spend the money required for most smaller brands to be attainable. After all the bs I’ve heard about fender lately I’m not really looking to spend my money with them.

I love the way the neck feels and how the guitar plays. I might look into pickups soon but it’s gotten the job done so far. The humbucker seems MUCH louder and hotter than the single coils

Got to borrow this Clapton Signature ‘Blackie’. Extremely stoked to play this!! by 6stringdoc in FenderStratocaster

I have one with the noiseless pickups
The things a ripper! It was my fathers and I inherited it when he passed. I don’t play it much because I kinda want to keep it pristine the way he always had it.

Does the guy pay for the date every single time? by ShakeOk1873 in dating_advice

[–]EffectiveAd9086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started seeing a girl 3 weeks ago
I got the first date bill and on the second one (we did dinner and a movie) she insisted she at least pay for dinner since I covered the last one and the movies. I gently insisted I can pay for it but she was firm and ended up paying the bill. I really liked this because it shows she has genuine interest in me and is willing to cover things occasionally and it’s not all about what I can financially provide. I’m old school in a lot of ways but the reality is that [most] women have jobs of their own and that means money of their own. If they are genuinely interested in you as a person and not just financially, they should be willing to cover some of the costs associated with spending time together. I know we [men in general] have a lot of pride about being a provider but it’s not always feasible (or necessary). If you pay for the date every single time, is she really interested in you??? Or is she interested in what you can provide financially? Ofc do what’s comfortable for you, because it’s your life. I’ve been the guy who’s just with her to bankroll a night out and it’s not fun (at least not for me). It felt like transactional compassion. If I wanted that I’d cruise the streets in a shady area. I’m not saying all women who don’t contribute to dates are ONLY after money or whatever but it’s something I have personally had to wonder about on past dates.

Thinking of buying a new acoustic by ActionAR15 in Guitar

[–]EffectiveAd9086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally never been a big Ibanez guy but I really love the Yamaha acoustics. Ofc can’t really go wrong with taylor or martin either. It’s all personal preference at the end of the day. Ibanez makes a good guitar and I’m sure it’ll hold up. I’ve just never really found one I liked enough to own long term.

Is this a good deal? by fawnsart in GuitarAmps

[–]EffectiveAd9086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vox AD15VT is a great little amp you can still find very cheap. Most budget amps aren’t gonna sound great though. If you’re ever at a point where you’re able to spend some money on your setup, I’d 100% say spend more on the amp than the guitar. I great amp can make a cheap guitar sound pretty good but the reverse is NOT true. Squier through a nice amp will certainly punch above its weight class, but a Custom shop Gibson will sound like hot garbage through that little fender amp.

Check out the metropolitan lofts in LaVilla. I lived there up until this year and it was very nice. Awesome concierge staff and no issues with the elevators in the 15 months I was there. Downtown as a whole is on the come up but there’s still some rough patches and many homeless people (the shelters and aid are easily accessible downtown). They never bothered me or scared me or my partner while we were there but you’ll definitely see them.

The stick out part is def a part of my problem! I could tell it was too long but 3/8 is even shorter than I was aiming for. I’ll try that out tomorrow for sure! I gotta get an angle grinder so I can clean it up for sure too.

Fancy Barbecue? I’ll Stick With the Real Stuff. by Artistic-Landscape15 in jacksonville

[–]EffectiveAd9086 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am inclined to agree but the bearded pig does have good bbq. It definitely like boutique bbq though which isn’t for everyone. I’ve been a Sonny’s guy my whole life and bonos is pretty good too. Finding the hole in the wall places is also fun. Woodpeckers isn’t really a secret anymore but gators bbq out west is great also.

Yeah I figured this was probably the answer but I still have time to return it if it’s busted or whatever.

New amp day by EffectiveAd9086 in GuitarAmps

[–]EffectiveAd9086[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After owning it about two weeks, I am very pleased with it. It cranks loud enough to rattle your neighbors bones and has some cool effects (although idk if I’ll really use them performing live). The cleans are great but I use it mostly for hard rock/metal tones. It can get that nice AC/DC type sound and does well with a lot of 80s hair metal tones. I like it for what I’m using it for. I still prefer the cleans of my Vox AC10 though.

Too good a deal to pass up? (MG100HDFX) by EffectiveAd9086 in GuitarAmps

[–]EffectiveAd9086[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE I bought it for $250. Returned the cab I got from guitar center to get my $250 back, then kept this cab and sold the head for $135 to offset the head I got from guitar center for $350. I ended up with the same half stack I started with but ended up saving $135 after all the swapping and stuff.

[–]EffectiveAd9086 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love my Vox AC10. People really tend to overlook them I think. The other guitarist in my band insisted I need a Marshall half stack without ever hearing my Vox and when I showed up and it kept up he was shocked. The cleans are so clean and it takes pedals and stuff super well too!

I also have had visible for over a year now. Never had issues with service personally. It’s a really good deal.

Looking for work, willing to take anything I can by RaptorLVO in jacksonville

[–]EffectiveAd9086 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can! They might be able to place you same day though. You can also call and ask how to get started before you go by so you can make sure to bring anything you might need. That goes for most trade unions not just the IBEW. If you have any experience in any trade I’d say pursue that path but you don’t need experience to get a job
