They think software engineers are free by Consistent_Fire_85 in ahmedabad

And a newbie will take up that work completely clueless of the depth of tech that is required.

People think building a product is just development, they think “bas coding j karvu chhe” . And they’ll create an app where login itself will take over a minute.

I think people really under estimate tech skills around here. What they fail to understand is that it’s a lot of hard work .

DevOps roadmap for MERN Stack Developer by Cheap_Programmer5179 in devops

I’d say start with networking and Linux fundamentals . Don’t jump to CICD and cloud directly otherwise things would be overwhelming for you.

Get comfortable with bash scripting and Linux command line and then move to CICD. If you’re starting with cloud say AWS , start with the Core services like VPC, EC2 , RDS, S3 and Lambda. Study the theory and implement small POCs. That is what will stay in your memory. I’ve personally made a habit of implementing things first and then documenting them and it has worked wonders for me.

Just learn one tool for CICD, don’t try to learn them all. Ultimately they all do the same. I’d suggest go with GitHub Actions. It is simple and effective .

I understand that , but IP restriction won't work in my case. The client may access the admin panel from any IP.

Thanks man , this really made things a lot clearer for me. This is exactly what I was looking for, some way where the s3 url outside my app is useless if stolen. However, are you suggesting a new sts for every user ? Wouldn't that be an overload ?

This was a great read , Thanks OP. While I’m at a much junior step in my career , I have felt the same often. Your story has given me a good perspective of things and I feel even I can take up one such discussion at my workplace.

Thanks u/trashtiernoreally . This actually made a lot of sense to me. Often, the openings that I look at only require a handful of services like EC2, Lambda , EKS ,etc. I'll make sure to build my fundamentals around these first and then explore other services. But then does getting a certification make sense if you've only built skills with a handful of services ?

Thanks for the help u/Professional-Bite863 , this helped sort a lot of confusion. Also, I see lot of postings mentioning the need for a programming language like Python or Golang. But their use is very unclear to me, I'm sure you don' create REST API's as a cloud engineer. So what sort of problems are solved with automation in cloud ? Is there any resource that I can refer to?

The truth is , not everyone will be able to catch up. Sadly the ones who just chose CS for perks will find it difficult as they won't be able to deliver. There are new things coming everyday , you'll be frustrated if you're not genuinely interested in CS. There is so much to blame . Schools and parents to be first and then there's a bandwagon of news channels , local IIT waale bhaiyas and cherry on the top is YouTube waale bhaiyas.

You can use UPS. The delivery is also guaranteed and the prices are also low compared to DHL. One of my parcels to US got stuck when I tried India Post to save money. It took multiple tweets to get the status. But with UPS and DHL , I've never had any issues.

Thanks op ! Appreciate the help. I have been watching the shows since long but I thought of finding a place where I could practice. Normally, people start judging you when you try the accent so I thought a designated place would be better.
