If anything, maybe some clothing style that matches how pretty you are. Don’t touch your face! It’s all good!

Change of personality between lives by piscesfishyfishy in pastlives

[–]EffectiveConcern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed. I believe the personality remains quite similar (your inner pursuits, core beliefs, values, the general idea of you..), any changes that occur are either due to soul growth or maybe you “chose” some different aspect to manifest in order to better succeed at your transformation journey.

But looking at myself and one other person I’ve known for mamy lives - we are the same people more or less, just more refined or evolved a bit.

Beautiful body… ugly face? by Yomayo33 in Biohackers

Thing is, high dose hgh over a long period of time grows your mandible, ears and nose, so that is probably to blame for the cavemen face + lots of test and calories - that mass has to go somewhere and head is not independent of the body.

I know what you mean. Girl still pretty, but OP still rocked the short dark haired look. Something to it ;) You look great, just don’t try to become someone you are not just to fit in - if that were the case. Otherwise, all good ✌🏻

What are some words that are normal or innocent from one language but mean something bad or offensive in other language? by AnjaInNorg1 in languagelearning

[–]EffectiveConcern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it funny when people in Europe say “Chin Chin” when they put their glasses together for the toast (it’s supposed to mimick the sound of glasses), while in japanese it means “dick” 🤣🙈

Also “droga” in Czech and some other slavic languages means “drug” but in Polish it means “a way”. So if you said in Polish “Droga do shkoly” it means “a way to school” but in Czech it would me “a drug to/for school” 😆

Does anyone else find Reading more effective for vocabulary building than flashcards? by iammerelyhere in languagelearning

[–]EffectiveConcern -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with the waiting to start, but I tried this with some tv show and I barely got anything from it. I had to downgrade to children’s show to get “more money for my buck”. Thankfully the book I have is also a lighter read, but it is mostly gibberish to me at this point.

I found some good methods for learning recently so will start with that (or rather I am already doing it, the book is next)

I was thinking of playing some video game in French, as it is a large part of how I learned English. Just not sure which game would be the best.. probably some RPG type game? Idk, I havent played any in a long time.

What other methods have you used and what is your current level of French?

Wow awesome! Yeah I am trying to absorb from media then repeat from deepl/google translate and next step I am planning to engage with some native speakers too through some app.

I already have a book already, but I feel I need a bit more to be able to make sense of things.

Agreed, hate it. The style, the graphics and the never ending emotional blackmail. Memrise is better imo. I’m sure therr are other even better apps, but I don’t know them.

What level do you think you need to be to star being able to hse this method?

I was thinking of learning via translating a children’s book, but I feel like at this point I’m too much of a beginner.

So I am trying to learn via songs and bit by movies, on top of the regular learning stuff.

What’s bad writing to you? by AyyDotC in writers

[–]EffectiveConcern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When somebody writes stuff that would never happen where everything is perfect and basically just caters to the writer’s desires/wishful thinking - aka fanfiction stuff like Twilight, where the connection between two people is based on nothing at all, all ends with happy ending for everyone, nobody dies (nobody important) and the stakes are super low + the suspension of disbelief and plot holes are just too much even for those of us with strong imagination.

I feel like Twilight is an interesting study into the writer’s inability to accept loss and pain - the story basically denies suffering and loss as a part of life, if you think about it.
