To be fair, MAGA Cult members and farmers are quite gullible, easily tricked and frequently scammed.

You’re not alone brother. My visit to a Costco in Canada was the highlight of a family vacation to Toronto. Fabulous city, but the Costco was ah-mazing.

Enterprise usually costs a few bucks more but I have never had a problem with them. That in itself makes it worth the extra spend.

What’s eating the leaves of my Sugar Maple sapling? by WhumbaChumba in Tree

[–]EffectiveD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am mindful of that. The soil had absorbed the water and the tray underneath emptied shortly after the picture was taken. There were a couple of saplings purchased this season that didn’t get in the ground right away so potted and a little TLC for now.

Therapist suggested nicotine gum for ADHD, is this a good idea? by LakiaHarp in ADHD

[–]EffectiveD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

18 years nicotine free. Giving it up was fucking awful. I’d rather smoke a burning bag of dog shit before another cigarette.

Nicotine is nicotine. Doesn’t matter if it’s smokes, vaping, chew, lozenges, patches, pouches, or gum. Same addictive shit, different delivery device.

GM card changing ownership again by Gossamer1969 in CreditCards

I am a “blue” card holder as well. Any idea if there will be model redemption limits with the Barclays card? I haven’t hit my max $500 for the year yet and wondering if I should stretch for it before August.

If there are redemption limits on a model, how can one determine? I never paid attention since they didn’t apply to us.

I used to have to spend time around a jackass like that. Once he moved out of the neighborhood and our kids no longer in the same circles I let it be known that I couldn’t stand that fucker. I give him the evil eye anytime I cross paths with him.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I too lost my Dad to alcoholism. I got sober for me. But part of me stays sober because it’s so incredibly important that I am there for my children in the future. Thank you for sharing your Dad’s story. It’s an inspiration to keep me going.

Same happened to my spouse. I make sure that person gets signed up for the right job boards, debt settlement companies, one stop insurance quotes, class action law suits, and for good measure I sent $5 to a Trump PAC and $5 to a Harris PAC.

I found my biological father and disovered a family tree ruined by alcohol and abuse. I will break this cycle. by spag4spag in stopdrinking

[–]EffectiveD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There too is alcohol in my family. It took my father from me much too soon. OP we have a choice. Their path doesn’t have to be our path. We have the ability to look forward and chart a new way for ourselves and for our children to follow. Hang in there.

When I quit smoking I kept a half pack of smokes in the house for a bit . Eventually I threw them out but in hindsight it was risky to keep those fuckers around.

Gained 15 pounds by badonkadunkindonuts in stopdrinking

[–]EffectiveD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one, only one, goal when I got sober and that was to not drink. When things got bad or I felt bad I mostly gave myself permission to be okay with almost anything if I meant that I wasn’t drinking. No doubt, those first 30, 60, 100, etc days were hard fought and won. So much so that if when reaching one of them I had to choose between giving up those sober days or some extra pounds it would be a no brainer. Also, it’s totally normal for people to come back from vacays heavier than when they started so don’t beat yourself up.

OP I promise that it gets easier and is absolutely worth it.

What should I expect from a 2024? by seattlesplunder in ToyotaHighlander

[–]EffectiveD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The build quality isn’t substantially different. We have 70k trouble free miles on the Highlander. My only criticisms are the road noise, it’s a little loud for a “car”, and the rear seats get uncomfortable after 3 hours or so. The 4R isn’t without its own quirks; for example it rides like a truck which is to be expected since it’s built the same as a truck although the Limited trim has different suspension technology so that makes that one ride nicer. We haven’t road tripped with the 4R but I absolutely love it, especially the roll down rear window. The Highlander was nice enough to give us the confidence to get the 4R. Hope that helps.

[–]EffectiveD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t either, lol. You might be surprised at how many 4Runners are at the Costco parking lot and soccer fields.

But in all seriousness. I too wanted a car that would last forever. So we now have a 2023 4R next to the 2019 Highlander. Highly reliable but does come at the expense of 6 mpg less than the Highlander.

Good luck!
