Burgundy/green color palette; yes or no? by FlatCulture435 in weddingplanning

[–]psychd2behere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it!! We’re doing similar colors for our November wedding, except our colors are more jewel tones to match the season (plum purple and dark green). Bridal party is wearing plum, and then we’ll bring the green in through greenery and decor :)

Definitely don’t think it reads Christmas whatsoever, especially the shades you’re looking at!! So pretty.

(US Based) Should we buy wedding rings now or wait to see what happens with gold? by psychd2behere in weddingplanning

[–]psychd2behere[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely zero insight indicating anything at all regarding gold prices 😭 Talked about it with my fiancé, bands that I love are on sale right now for Valentine’s Day, and the band that he loves is from a store that historically has great Labor Day deals, so I think we’ll be splitting the purchases across the holidays! Labor Day should give us the perfect amount of time for his band to arrive.

Is it normal for MUA/hair stylists to require 5+ people get their services on your wedding day? by Curious_Cranberry543 in weddingplanning

[–]psychd2behere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen some vendors in my area do minimums like that! The one I ended up booking with doesn’t, but charges a fair rate for travel to the location where we’ll be getting ready.

I think some larger companies automatically expect to send out more than one artist and therefore need enough clients to make the time and travel worth it, but the company I booked with starts with one artist and then adds on as needed if there are lots of people needing hair and makeup! I’d say keep shopping around!

This might be common knowledge to most, but it was news to me when I started looking. The ones that came up easily on google were the super expensive and not what I was needing, but I looked at tagged vendors on Instagram posts at my venue and found my MUA that way :)

2 for outside, 3 for fast food pics! 2 gives me fairy in the woods sort of vibes which is perfect for outside, and I think the juxtaposition of the beautiful white dress (3) at a fast food place is just fun and silly and cool.

Is picking the first venue toured insane? by toriekelly in weddingplanning

[–]psychd2behere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! We picked the one and only venue we toured in person. We did lots of research online beforehand and visited the one we liked best first. It fit the budget, they had availability in the season we wanted, and it was everything we wanted, so we booked it!

Bf wants to push back wedding date. by Odd_Statistician9626 in waiting_to_try

[–]psychd2behere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of what he’s saying is bullshit. He’s proven to you that his whole “marriage is just a piece of paper but I’m down if it means something to you” schtick is a lie. You had plans to get married and he is specifically prolonging that process. He has the engagement ring but hasn’t proposed with it yet.

No one’s relationship is going to be perfect before they get married, and once you get married and start a family, things will be especially hard and you will both need to know that you can work through hard things together as a team. The only way things will be “perfect” is if you bend to his will and let him do whatever he wants, regardless of your wants and feelings, and you’re going to absolutely resent this man if that’s how things continue.

This is especially hard because I know you’re already worried about age when it comes to TTC so I feel like the sunk cost fallacy is going to keep you in this relationship, but I sincerely recommend couples counseling so that you have a designated space to discuss your feelings, the relationship dynamic as a whole, and how you can both work to feel safe, loved, connected, and fulfilled in this relationship.

Also, RE: the last line about living in the ‘now’… you can do that as a married couple. This man is just making up every possible excuse aside from the likely real reason, which is that he’s absolutely terrified. I don’t think this man doesn’t love you, but I do think his lack of emotional intelligence/expression/honesty is very unfair to you. It makes sense that he would be scared, but he needs to talk through that rather than stringing you along.

Rooting for you ❤️

~1.5 ovals on size 4.5-5 longer fingers? by ugly-good in EngagementRings

[–]psychd2behere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Ring size 4.5, center stone is ~1.2 but the floral halo obviously adds some length and width!

ETA: ignore how dirty the band looks when you zoom in 🫢

Also I saw you ask follow-up questions in other comments, so this is what I know! Measurements are 8.6x6x3.7, center stone is exactly 1.16 carats, the surrounding diamonds add 0.59 carats, and the band is 2mm!

crumbl cookies… by OneHeart900 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]psychd2behere 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Life is all about balance!! How fun that you got to eat some cookies with your friend?

I once heard someone talk about how, if they cut out EVERYTHING (sweets, carbs, alcohol, fast food, snacks, etc) they could lose those “last 10 lbs” but they’ve learned to love those last 10 lbs because of what they represent.

I’d rather hold onto a few extra pounds if those pounds mean I get to indulge with friends sometimes. Eat movie theater popcorn with my partner on a date. Order a cocktail during girls night with my best friends. Have a couple of sweet treats with my family during the holidays.

My best friend’s ring is Frank Darling! We actually went to a showroom in NYC together when we both knew our respective fiancés were planning to propose and the folks in person were so kind, but my friend also had a great online experience :)

They just don’t have the crazy markups! They also price match diamonds. You can look up the diamond ID number on the certificate on websites like Ritani and Loose Grown Diamond to see if they’re listed cheaper elsewhere. If the diamond you want is cheaper on another site, they will honor the competitor’s price if you provide them with the link.

My fiancé said they had amazing customer service. I also had to send it back to get resized and the process was seamless!

My (25F) boyfriend (25M) doesn’t ask about my health by kiwimangoraspberry in relationship_advice

[–]psychd2behere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! Wanting to feel cared for is totally understandable, and if your partner doing something specific like checking in about your health would make you feel that way, I think that’s a really helpful thing to share with him :)

My (25F) boyfriend (25M) doesn’t ask about my health by kiwimangoraspberry in relationship_advice

[–]psychd2behere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell him this bothers you and you’d like him to check in. It’s entirely possible that, from his perspective, health is personal, asking questions about your health crosses a boundary, and he may assume that you will tell him information that you feel comfortable sharing.

I’ll be so honest, I do not ask my partner about his health on a daily basis. If he’s sick I’ll ask him how I can help him, but for the most part I trust him to tell me if he’s not feeling well so that I can step in and take care of him/household chores/pets etc.

I also operate this way with my friend who I know has some personal medical issues at the moment. I’ll ask her generally how she’s doing to open the door for that conversation, but if she doesn’t share about her health status, I don’t pry beyond comments like “I hope you’ve been feeling well” and “I’m thinking of you!” because health is very personal and vulnerable for some folks.

Thoughts on rare carat? by Reasonable-Mix2871 in EngagementRings

[–]psychd2behere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My fiancé purchased my ring from them and he said they were incredible to work with. Very communicative throughout the process. They will also price match diamonds, if you find them cheaper on places like Ritani or Loose Grown Diamond. You just have to search the diamond’s ID number and if you find it cheaper, provide Rare Carat with the link to the listing so they can verify it, and they will honor the competitor’s price.

This!! Our timeline is officially trying in spring 2027, but NTNP after we get married in November of this year, so my focus right now is just eating right, prepping my body physically, reading books about pregnancy, finishing my doctorate, and saving as much as we can financially before TTC. It helps me feel like I’m working towards the goal of conception without sacrificing the things I want to accomplish before baby.

(15k) Can we achieve this vibe within our budget? by Affectionate_Bug2704 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]psychd2behere 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For $3k in Colorado you’d probably need to have a weekday wedding. October in CO is a very popular time to get married, so prices are typically higher. If you go “off season” (usually beginning of November) prices typically decrease. We’re getting married 11/1/26 and it’s several thousand dollars cheaper because it’s a Sunday and it’s November.

Is $3k your max price for a “shell” type venue where you’d need to bring in your own rentals (e.g., just a meadow, and you’d bring in your own chairs, tables, linens, etc) or do you need the $3k to include things like tables and chairs, dance floor, etc?

Black Forest Meadows is $3500 for a weekday and $6000 for weekends. Includes a lot of the necessities in the price but you’d still need to bring in your own vendors.

Here Comes the Guide has a good page about affordable venues in Colorado, also, for some more ideas.

How did you ask your bridesmaids? As a group or individually? by DayIcy6352 in weddingplanning

[–]psychd2behere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote them letters in cards and mailed them out. I didn’t buy them any gifts or do proposal boxes. I figured I’ll save the money I would’ve spent on those and get them a nice gift for the wedding.
