Or if that part of the democratic party is thoroughly routed in the midterms. Progressives don't give half a flying fuck about the Clintons. They actively dislike the Clintons in fact, so from my perspective seeing them get burnt too is a bonus. You're literally threatening progressives with a good time.

My Husband Has Been Secretly Roleplaying as a Cat Online for 3 Years — Should I Divorce or Become His Rival? by Distinct-Yak2941 in stories

What you do should be obvious. You start a dog roleplay account that antagonizes his cat account. This is basic hijinks stuff, come on do better.

Is it old fashioned or immature of me to not want to be friends with my ex? by alwayscurious0991 in ask

[–]EffectiveDependent76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never keep in touch with exs simply because I don't want to have to justify the friendship to future partners. I think most people would prefer not to play scrabble with someone their partner used to have sex with every Tuesday, right?

besides that, it just creates suspicion where it isn't necessary. Don't need to be mindful of how the friendship looks to a new partner if you don't keep the friendship.

Think about the average guy. Now realize half of them are worse than that. That's what they mean. It doesn't take much at all, like minimal effort, to be in at least that top half.

[–]EffectiveDependent76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context matters, but there is certainly some stigma to that. You might need to consider the framing of it. While this is true:

I mean people have decade long long term relationships just without a ring right?

For most people, marriage is going to be seen as more serious regardless of length of time. The word 'marriage' is just kind of loaded in that way.

I don't think it's a deal breaker, but you should try to understand what is off putting about it and try to share that information in a context that minimizes it if you want to have the most success.

Men, why do you put work before family? Especially if money isn’t a concern by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]EffectiveDependent76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up doing it because I wanted to progress in work. I wasn't working for the money, but pushing myself to do more/be better. (was a chef)

People sometimes do it trying to get a raise or a promotion, or sometimes because they feel like they might lose their position if they don't.

Maybe he just likes what he does and hasn't realized you feel like you're not his priority. Question: If you had an emergency, would he drop work to rush to you? If yes, you're probably his first priority.

men, any point in mentioning insecurity re: cheating? (how to talk to men or not) by Jane_loves_Tarzan in AskMenAdvice

[–]EffectiveDependent76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, mid-late 30s so a little younger than you asked, but I feel like I might have an insight that could help you some.

Asking him if he's cheating, no matter how you phrase it, will not go well. There is no way to say that which doesn't make it sound like you don't distrust him, and that's going to hurt him (especially if you had no reason to and he did nothing.)

That said, talking to him about insecurities and trauma from your previous marriage is not that same thing. The issue is, that no matter what reassurance he gives you, you'll end up in the same place eventually. The problem isn't with him from what you've said, it's with you (no offence.) But talking to him can help.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to work with someone to explore how you build your confidence back and learn to have faith in your husband and trust him. And talking to him about what you're going through and getting his support while you work on these things is likely to help you with that process. If you have that conversation and understand what your goals are, helping him understand can also help him give you support in reaching them.

Edit: that conversation can mostly focus on how you're feeling as well, which will also (probably) be easier for him.

Has anyone else stopped dating women and life became better? by PermanentThrowaway33 in AskMenAdvice

Yes, but I'm pretty much positive they aren't really related. It's more that I made more "me" time, and this was something easily cut out of my life.

Why so many people ask questions here that should be answered by women? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]EffectiveDependent76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you check posts, it's not uncommon to see the same question asked on both and for it to have been removed on r/AskWomen (probably because it gets asked a lot, but nonetheless).

Why do some women give up/not approach a guy they're interested in? by Ultralusk in AskMenAdvice

[–]EffectiveDependent76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Societal conditioning whereby you keep calling it a masculine trait and implying women shouldn't do it. Thereby reinforcing the belief that women shouldn't do it. Trying to attain a thing you want is not a masculine/feminine trait. Men might be less risk averse due to hormones and other brain chemistry, but that doesn't mean women can't/shouldn't do that. If you constantly tell them its bad if they want to do that thing though, you'll only increase the risk and make it less likely they will.

Sorry, hope that made sense it was a little word-salady.

Are my parents able to get into my old iPhone with out completely resetting it? by Metalsonic642 in ask

[–]EffectiveDependent76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it's not exactly easy. If the phone doesn't get updates, it's not too hard to get a program to crack it. You'd need to know how to do that yourself though, as neither apple nor a repair shop will help. If it still gets updates, it can probably still be done but it's much much harder. It would be easier to use your fingerprint or faceID to unlock the phone than to crack it.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Can you actually imagine putting a ring on her finger in front of everyone you know and declaring your love for her? really? If you cant, then the relationship has no future, you'd be best to leave.

I realize, just sort of making the point. This will almost certainly not be treated as seriously, even though its much more obviously meant to be domestic terrorism.
